  1. Another problem is supply chain problems now. I wanted to get a VW golf hatchback or maybe a Subaru station wagon. Neither the VW or Subaru dealerships could get what I wanted right away. They told me I’d have to wait 6 months to 2 years. The only dealerships that had cars ready to drive off the lot were GM and Ford. Kind of crazy that the moment I told the salesman I work construction (apprentice electrician), they tried selling me a ridiculously oversized pickup truck that nobody uses for construction. In the end, I choose a Chevy Equinox because even though it’s an SUV; it was smaller and more compact than the other SUVs on the lot (no sedans offered by either Ford or GM car dealers).

  2.  @American-Motors-Corporation  I too suspected that as well. Nothing made any sense. A well coordinated effort to monopolize and jack up car prices beyond inflation is what really happened. I mean, even the foreign car makers aren’t offering much for sedans and hatchbacks anymore. They too are going after the lucrative market of selling SUVs and luxury trucks. My old man wanted to get his 2005 pickup truck replaced with a new 2022 pickup line. He was willing to spend at least $40k for a new (practical) truck, but all he got were offers of $80k luxury pickup trucks that are totally useless on a construction site. In the end, he ended up do a massive overhaul and repair work at a local shop for his 2005 GMC truck for less than $15k. Money that’s much better spent than buying a new truck that you can’t even fix on your own!
