@TheMarketExit I see more people tuning out and going alternate paths as things continue to get worse. It will reach a point when the “market” caps out and nobody can afford anything. That’s when parallel societies begin to truly shine in their endurance.

@inmydelorean6025 You claimed America is a “free market economy” which has not been the case since the end of WW2. It’s a well understood fact among federal funded traffic engineers, automotive companies, fast food franchises and freeways getting priority above all else. Before WW2, the small/medium scale private sector built, managed and ran everything. Now it’s the federal government. Yes, American computer/software/IT employees get paid far more than their European counterparts. But that’s because it is America that launched the microelectronics revolution in 1947, not Europe. America also created the first commercial computer and spent a lot of money in the development of transistors. That is why you guys in IT are well paid. Other sectors in America are struggling, have collapsed, or in severe decline.

@inmydelorean6025 Russia was not the first to send equipment into space. That was first accomplished by Hitler Germany in 1944 during initial trial runs for high powered German rockets/missiles. The USSR never had the scientific-technical expertise to do such a daunting project. The entire American and Russian space agencies were built, then run by German rocket scientists/engineers. Not American or Russian specialists. As for Russia itself, its engineering arm collapsed in the 1980s which is why Russia is struggling to fight a conventional war in Ukraine right now. They simply don't have the engineers required to produce any significant number of tanks, aircraft etc. Going back to the original argument, your statement (at this point in time) is not entirely true. That so called "free economy" really depends on what region you're in. And sure, you can talk about Elon Musk and overall GDP growth. But even "wealthy places" such as Silicon Valley and Texas horribly struggle with basic infrastructure maintenance, public services and bad priorities from the federal/state level. That shows that GDP growth or Elon Musk's is not a measure of "free economy" in America. We have a vast amount of regulations, ordinances, planning etc. highly dictated by the federal government.

@inmydelorean6025 America has never been a free market capitalist economy since the end of WW2. The federal government dictates economic policies, allow for corporate monopolies, and enforce absurd regulations. That’s also how the EU runs as well. Only difference is that the EU has over regulated labor, and overtaxed capital. While America has severely under paid their labor and highly favoured capital. I also disagree with how you apply the standard “free economy wages” to every aspect of American life. That doesn’t apply to me. I’m a union plumber that’s well paid, has plenty of benefits/insurance, three week vacations, and I can earn a lot more money working overtime if I want to. If there is a shop I don’t like; I can easily transfer over to a third union shop.
