Crimea has been Russian since 1784. In 1954, Khrushchev transferred Crimea administration to Ukraine SSR to gain favor with Ukraine SSR. He did it without approval from Crimea or consideration of its Russian demographic. In 2014 Crimea voted (97% w/83% turnout) to be repatriated to Russia.

@mddell24 Sadly, basic, public education, such as reading and writing, in Britain has imploded. Meanwhile, so indoctrinated to feel guilty about having been a colonial state (from which, by the way, the former colonies gained the systems that they rely on today), that Brits fail to grasp that they are being invaded and colonized.

@davidcollin1436 Actually that is not accurate. It became part of Russia in 1784, annexed from the Ottoman Empire by Catherine the Great in 1783.

In 2014, Crimea voted overwhelmingly (97% w/ 83% turnout) to be repatriated to Russia. Russia will not return Crimea to Ukraine, and it will not return the new Russian territory in the east, acquired by overwhelming votes to join Russia, after Ukrainian genocide and ethnic cleansing/discrimination against Russian-Ukrainians.

Even if Russia were to lose their minds, betray the Russian-Ukrainians in the east, and agree to Ukraine's borders being returned to pre-Feb. 22 borders and confirm Crimea as Ukrainian, such a peace agreement would not bring peace. The Russian-Ukrainians in the east and Crimea do not want to be part of Ukraine. Civil war would continue.
