  1. This morning I passed a funky downtown shoe store. A board on the sidewalk outside its door proclaimed, "The New York Times is cool again." I went in. Asked for the manager. Not in. White sales clerk asked me if she could give him a message. I gave her the message for him. In view of the deplorable and vile racist tweets against whites of the new editor at The New York Times, the message on the shop's board was inappropriate socially and for the shop's brand. Angrily, she told me that it was impossible to be racist against whites. Shocked me to the core. She threw me out of "her" shop.
