  1. The interview with Princess Diana might have been a staggering ethical failure; however, so were her responses that she gave on her own volition. The BBC and Martin Bashir did not hand Diana a script as to how she must answer the questions. Also her private secretary, Patrick Jephson, warned her against participating in the interview. She would not take his advice. Unethical practices on the part of the BBC and Martin Bashir are being turned into a cleansing of Diana's appalling behavior. That should not be the case. She was culpable for her vitriolic statements during that interview and any results they may have had on her guilt-ridden psyche.
