  1. I have even found myself questioning a democratic system of government (and before anyone moans that the US is not a democracy, it is a democratic republic), as well as the justice system. Democracy cannot function without informed electorates and ethical professional journalism. Both of these essential requirements are in serious jeopardy right now. As for justice, it went out the window a long time ago, when lawyers lost sight of what justice is about and replaced it with win/lose games among lawyers. Then politics entered the justice system, and it plummeted into the flames of hell. Maybe it is time prosecutors were held personally liable for wrongful prosecutions and wrongful convictions. Perhaps, then, the meaning of justice would become apparent to them again.
