  1. This is ridiculous. No wonder the NYCB is spending so much money on pointe shoes. Of course they are not going to last long when they are pretty much destroyed before use. There are many lines of pointe shoes today using modern materials, easily moldable into required shapes for different feet. In my view the destruction of the shoes has become a traditional trend, rather than necessary. Companies would do well to question what a dancer is doing wrong on pointe to find it necessary to destroy and rebuild them. NYCB dancers, anyway, are far from the best dancers in the West. That might account for all the pointe shoes.
