If she had been calm, measured, with a tone of empathy, she would highly likely have obtained a full, detailed confession from the accused who was completely vulnerable, with everyone in the courtroom present. You know why a lot of lawyers end up being prosecutors? Because they can't get jobs in law practices.

Unsuspecting witnesses have no idea how they are about to be attacked when Prior mounts the podium to cross-examine them, not just attempting to create doubt for the jury, but actually bullying, slandering, demeaning, attacking the witnesses; and with slippery language, getting them to agree to his made-up scenarios with which they actually don't agree. They have to be strong, alert and assertive to trip Prior up in his false scenarios and games with justice. Many of the witnesses have not been able to do that. Hopefully, the jury catches on to his games.

I don't think that's right, no matter how much she annoyed her previous eight (I think) court-appointed attorneys. I think the judge should have ordered that one of them along the way stick with her and that she cooperate.

Calm, fair, attentive, and, not least, well groomed and professional looking, inspiring confidence (something that is missing from many female judges - except Judge Jennifer Dorow in Wisconsin - also well groomed, with the same admirable attributes). Judge Stokes is pretty too, as is Judge Dorrow, but that, of course, is not a qualification for their positions.

  14. ​ @shadoejones3288 Not a chance. Frankly Prior has a huge conflict of interest. As he acquired the property after the children were buried, it is not relevant to the case. Prior was on his usual path to confuse the jury with an irrelevant question about the acreage. I am surprised that the legal system allowed him to be defense attorney after being paid with the very property in question.

  16. This defence attorney should have known better than to vilify a veteran who risked his life and was wounded for his country, and who appears likeable and straight forward, especially when the attorney obviously knows he did not shoot this woman's husband.

He simply did not agree with the ethics of leaving her pro se (without an attorney), particularly as she would have been clueless without an attorney. He stepped in for ethical reasons, not because he agrees with his client or falls for her BS. Meanwhile, attorneys do have to respect clients' wishes.

  19. Justice has gone off the rails when defence is allowed to make up theories and outright lies in defence of their client. An accused should have the right to an ethical defence, Falsely blaming someone else or making up false stories is not ethical. The best defence should be factual evidence if the client is innocent, or the best mitigating evidence to lessen the punishment, if the client is guilty.

Obviously I am horrified by this case - I don't understand why her charges are not First Degree Murder - however, the judge's initially denying her another court-appointed attorney left me feeling uncomfortable. No matter how much she brags about her own abilities and how much she annoyed her slew of court-appointed attorneys, leaving someone so uninformed to defend herself, was in my opinion wrong. Surely he could have ruled that the last defence team remain and that she work with them. Then came her new attorney - pro bono I expect - however, he doesn't seem to be on the ball - doesn't even appear to know how to use a computer. Is his practice failing, so he took this case to drum up more business for himself?

  25. If the judge were to disallow her investigative interview for lack of the waiver part of the miranda rights, surely the video of her suitcase murder can still be presented at the trial. Correct me if I am wrong. As soon as the jury sees that video, she is toast, in my view.

  26. Love the former nurse standing up to that defense attorney attempting to dismiss her testimony because of her charges resulting from her former drug addiction. She strikes me as a very credible witness. He would have gained more points for his client by not attacking her personally.

  33.  @Truth17John17  I've been wasting quite a bit of time watching various court cases - doesn't contribute to the improvement of my life in any way. Just interesting. This one has been quite absorbing to say the least - a café of lost life-in-betweeners - ready for the pages of a novel. Astonishing how her appearance changed from, at times, a very attractive young woman, such as the day Jason entered the courtroom, when one could understand how an older, apparently sensible military man could lose his senses to become entangled with her, to an unattractive, butchy man-woman on her way to a life in prison.

  37. She won't be charged for her role in Harmony's death. She negotiated immunity - granting her full immunity, a massive mistake. Hopefully she can be charged and imprisoned for each additional lie. On direct, she appeared to have been a guilty onlooker. Now I believe she may have been actively and mutually responsible, just throwing Adam under the bus to get off through the immunity deal.

She is young - just in her seventies, quite young enough to face due punishment and lock-up after attempting a one-way flight to Vietnam that has no extradition treaty with the US. The allegations against - involved in the murder of her son-in-law - are far more egregious by many miles than another bottom-feeding jail inmate running her fingers up her spine to degrade her.

  49. The elephant in the room! Clarity on the facts. Ketamine is a horse tranquilizer. It should NEVER be used for mental or psychological issues. Maybe in small doses in the operating room to put patients out, but NEVER for mental health. Just one more excuse for profits - using drugs for other than their intended, approved use.
