I come from a colonial family: The people who worked for my family had free housing, free water, free plots of land on which to grow vegetables, corn, etc., free milk, free flour (for the standard staple of the country), free meat, free healthcare, free hospitalization when needed, free primary schooling at neighboring schools. Now the descendents are likely in the throws of misery subsisting in the slums that have grown up around towns and cities (that were not there during colonial days), living under corrupt governments, enjoying no free necessities of life, and many dodging the evils of protracted civil war and disease. My point is that any encroachment on culture to protest against colonialism is highly misguided.
