@jackodknight "The Israeli melon" huh? Last time I checked Israel claimed "Falafel and hummus" too as their NATIONAL cuisine 😂 I kid you not. They really did. I think we can all see a pattern here. How pathetic !

@jackodknight Spoken like a true Israeli. He is actually justifying this 😂 Japanese eat a lot of Pizza too. They even have their own recipe for pizza. Is pizza part of the national Japanese cuisine?! They never claimed it. They are not desperate to steal other people's culture and claim as theirs. The Greek owns rights to every "feta" cheese as the name is protected by law. We all eat feta cheese daily around the world and no one can claim it as their national food. You'd literally get sued. You are the one embarrassing yourself. So yes, keep going

@Stabe1981 Two Israeli terrorist groups, Stern and Irgun, are responsible for the assassination of the UN peace envoy Bernadotte and minister Lord Moyne , plus , a series of terrorist attacks including King David Hotel, Semiramis Hotel..etc. The leader of Irgun became the Israeli Prime Minister, Menachem Begin. Yitzhak Shamir, leader of Stern became Israeli prime minister.

@Stabe1981 Then why did two of the internationally recognized Israeli terrorist groups become part of the Israeli government? And the leaders of these terrorist groups became Israeli prime ministers? The UN envoy for peace, Bernadotte who is also a member of the Swedish royal family was killed in 1948 The leader of the terrorist group, Irgun, responsible for this, became the Israeli Prime Minister, Menachem Begin! Begin was even unable to travel to several countries because of his terrorism. And the British/Irish minister Lord Moyne in 1944 was killed by the leader of the Israeli terrorist group, Stern, and again, the leader became the Israeli prime minister, Yitzhak Shamir. These two terrorist groups became part of the IDF.

@Stabe1981 The current Israeli minister for national security, Ben Gvir is also supportive of multiple terrorists like Goldstein, who fired at civilians including a 12 year old in the massacre of Cave of the Patriarch in 1994, and Ben-Gvir is also supportive of the Israeli terrorist Yigal, who killed the Israeli prime minister, Rabin for wanting peace with the Palestinians. The Israeli minister/terrorist, Ben-Gvir, not only praises and honors them nonstop but he also has their pictures framed in his home.

@jackodknight I ignored it because it is a false claim. National food is tied to identity and not about how many people in the country like to eat it. No one is saying, Israelis should not eat falafel or Hummus. It's calling it "national cuisine" that's shameful. Pizza is one of the most popular types of fast food in the US but it is not part of "national cuisine". Pizza even though in the US alone it has dozens of styles but it's part of the Italian cuisine and their national food. About falafel an Israeli said " a testament to Israel's rich tapestry of culinery influences and its ability to transform immigrant foods into national SYMBOLS" At the same time compare it with European Jews of 1930 " shunning falafel as alien dish" and " in 1984 falafel was still far from being accepted as a Jewish, much less "national" food". He goes on to say " However, it allowed falafel to shed its associations with the Arab peoples. This was something the Israeli government was glad to encourage..and so closely identified with the Israeli state" ( Lee 2018). The author of Food of Israel even went as far as claiming it was a "biblical food" 🤣 He must've thought God gave him falafel and hummus to go with the land. "Politically, Zionists ignored the Arabs but culturally , they romanticized and tried to imitate them" Zerubavel, scholar of Israeli culture. The Israeli song of 1958, "only we have falafel, because this is the national food of Israel" "It is a total appropriation and that is linked to very concrete things like land and sustenance" Mr. Alcalay , Jewish professor "Israelis love to think that falafel is their own" Ms.Agmon

@jackodknight I like pizza but I would never claim it as "national food". I'm pretty sure Pizza is popular in Israel but it's nowhere mentioned as a "national" dish like those which are part of the Arab cuisine. As for the hamburger you keep bringing up, there is no comparison whatsoever. Not only because the origin is unverified but also because the sandwich was not popularized or established in Germany. Hamburgh was known for its meat and not the "hamburger" brought from the US. Germany does not even claim it as a national food. Whereas every Arab dish that is Israelized has been integral part of the culture for hundreds of years before 1945.
