Blowing up the dam gives Russia a strategic and tactical advantage. Of course they did it. This is obvious.
2
Ukraine needs to take Crimea soon. They should ignore the Dombas region for now. The window of opportunity is closing fast.
2
@milosstevanovic1377 This is no small difference of opinion. The choice between Putin's tyranny and a free world is fundamental. If you don't understand that, then please refrain from posting.
2
Good. Every police state trying to attack a free and democratic neighbor should pay attention. Looking at you China.
2
Putin's bot are out in force. Only a fool would believe Putin actually backs Kamala. Trump loves Putin and will be easier to manipulate. Putin will stroke his ego until he gets what he wants
2
Russia is starting to look more like North Korea every day.
2
In a war of attrition, it doesn't matter where the attrition takes place. This is just as good a place as anywhere else. If it wasn't happening there it would be happening somewhere else.
2
Moldova is doing what it must do to stop Putin's agents from creating chaos and taking over by an armed coup d'etat 😠
2
No doubt.
2
It's about time. Russia tried to keep it quiet and deny it happened. Glad the world is finally seeing it for the genocide it was, especially since Putin is trying to do it again 😡
2
There are so many similarities to Churchill. Both depending on US support to fight a tyrant that came dangerously close to conquering them.
2
I think we should give her a break. Given the world as it was when she was in power she did what seemed right at the time. The same is true for leaders in the US and other EU countries. Very few people anticipated the world as it is now.
2
I doubt the corporate autocracy supports what Putin is doing. It's bad for business. Putin's obsession with Ukraine is all on him alone.
2
The world must push back against the Chinese borg. Resistance is not futile, we will not be assimilated. No one should be forced to join the collective. Enforced conformity in a surveillance state is no way to live.
2
Their last chance for freedom and democracy. Too late now 😟 the CCP has absolute control of the surveillance police state.
2
It's an economic struggle. If the world stops depending on Chinese products they won't have the resources to fight and war can be avoided.
2
At least people are finally learning some geography. When this war is over and we pivot to Asia the geography lesson will continue. The new players will be Japan, Australia, Korea, Vietnam, etc. New "besties" indeed 😀
2
Turnabout is fair play 😏
2
The war has made nations realize they are vulnerable to countries they rely on for critical material and products. Interdependence is only viable in a world at peace. With China and Russia pursuing territorial expansion the free world needs to secure reliable sources elsewhere.
2
He doesn't need military force, he has agents working covertly to overthrow the government.
2
@gaung yu business decisions effect the outcome of wars. Always bad for soldiers and civilians.
2
@IamHandsome4u I'm sure they are doing exactly that.
2
@nzs316 what's wrong with Justin? I know nothing about your politics but from the outside he seems like a decent guy.
2
???
2
No one knows how this is going to play out. Hollywood couldn't match this for drama. Yes I know people are getting killed but a pure fight for freedom in the 21st century up against a cruel tyrant? You can't make this stuff up.
2
@mrrusik1993 these comments don't represent American opinions. Tbh, most Americans are apathetic , more interested in celebrity scandals and cat videos. Sure some people don't understand that Russians are not all the same but most of the people I know just think it must be a nightmare to live in a country where you can't say what you want and you're stuck with a ruler you don't like.
2
The Finns lost Karelia to Russia. Joining NATO will insure they dont lose any more.
2
@The Paradox Destroyer if Trump gets elected the threat to democracy will be in America itself.
2
@RevivedSaiyan they came close to succeeding once before. With Russia putting all it's resources into Ukraine Putin might not be able to squash them down. I wish all the countries Putin invaded would rise up (Georgia, Chechnya, Syria, etc.)
2
It's ridiculous to think NATO threatens Russia. The only reason nations join NATO is because they are threatened by Russia. Everybody outside of Russia knows this. Tbh, I'm pretty sure Putin knows it too. He doesn't like Finland and Sweden joining because it means fewer target's for him to threaten.
2
The only threat to Germany is Russia. Ukraine is diminishing the power of Russia. Be logical. Give the tanks to Ukraine so that Russia will be weak and no longer a threat to you.
2
More of Putin's work. Assad depends on Putin to kill his own people.
2
I was surprised when I found out we didn't have close relations with India. Nixon was a fool to side with Pakistan in 1971. The same Nixon that started our dependency on China.
2
@peabase obviously that's common knowledge. But Germany has been reluctant to realize it's full potential for obvious reasons. I'm just glad we're past that now.
2
Lol 😂
2
When China starts expanding it's territory it's going to be worse than what Russia is doing now. They CCP is a lot smarter than Putin.
2
@DenisHavlikVienna the are a member of an EU based organization. NATO is based in the EU, the North Atlantic region.
2
He know he would lose if NATO troops were deployed. He would rather destroy the world, including Russia, than lose his colonial ambitions.
2
It will be a stalemate until Ukraine gets more and better weapons from the free world. Not complicated.
2
@-whackd that money goes to Putin, the oligarchs, the silovoki, and the war machine. Some goes to infrastructure, but the people never see a dime of it unless they are shilling for the government.
2
@ИринаЛукьяненко-ь3ъ i don't know which side of the argument you're on but that's funny 🤣
2
Yet another reason to keep him out of office.
2
Patience. WW2 took 6 years and cost far more in lives and money. If we just stopped holding back and gave Ukraine everything they need then Putin would be pushed out of Ukraine and we could end this a lot more quickly.
2
Good piece. Different perspectives. Thanks DW
2
Turkey is not in the EU due to human rights violations and violation of Cyprus sovereignty. They engaged in illegal arms deals with Russia. They are no position to make demands.
2
Not immigrants, infiltration by operatives creating separatist activity, then Russia comes in to "liberate"
2
The Chinese Borg are patiently waiting for the best time to attack, but an attack is inevitable. Resistance is futile, they will be assimilated.
2
Benign post deleted. I just said it was too bad it took a war to remove him and the religious right coalition.
2
Good news. We need a strong Japan to help deter China from attacking its neighbors.
2
Putin has FSB agents making trouble and trying to bring down the government. His troll farms are busy trying to make people believe in pro-russian sentiment that doesn't exist.
