  9. I can't speak to the ethics of the business end of weapons production but I worked in the industry as an engineer and it was just an interesting challenge to me. A lot of the problem solving we were involved in had civilian applications too. Same with space flight technology. Not trying to justify the enormous profits but pointing out that weapons development is not an isolated endeavor.

  15. I think the only difference is the AR-15 isn't fully automatic. Not that fully automatic is very effective - uses up the magazine pretty fast. My drill instructor discouraged us from going fully automatic.

  16. Agreed. Trying to push back against gun owners is not going to work. Other solutions exist. We had extensive active active shooter drills where I work. I also think we can identify certain behavior and patterns that might alert us to potential shooters.

  17. Even mild criticism of "woke" ideology brings condemnation. Lack of tolerance of competing points of view is an ironic featuring of an ideology that claims to be inclusive.

  21. I don't see why all these people try to give reasons for owning an AR-15. I owned one because it's light and easy to use and it's got an old school style about it. I just wanted to own one and then improve my aim. Too bad I sold it way back then, now it's worth 3 times what I bought it for.

  38. Agreed. The base in both parties have become increasingly intolerant and dogmatic about their beliefs. The lack of civility between both sides is a bad sign for our democracy. Woke politics is driving me away from the Democrats but the Republican failure to condemn Trump makes it impossible to join them.

  41. We used to welcome immigrants to this country, they made us better and stronger. Thankfully my ancestors got here over 100 years ago before we shut the door. Even today, most immigrants are among the most hard working and patriotic people in America. We have become zenophobic and intolerant over the years. So sad.

  42.  @skyking6989  how do you come in legally if the door is closed? We only allow a very small number of immigrants compared to historical limits. We don't even make is easy for Ukrainian refugees and Russian dissidents to come here and they are seeking asylum from war and tyranny. Farm workers from Mexico that we need to harvest crops can't get in. This is a big country with plenty of opportunity for anyone willing to work for it.
