13:00 this has always been to easy of a stance. For starters, we don't "give away everything". We are being tracked and followed regardless if we even use Facebook. It is taking, rather than receiving on the end of data collecting. Second, even if we "give away" by filling in forms online, add bios, share experiences; we don't necessarily say these data could be monetized. And third, it's not like we could use many apps and services without being breached by the providers for far more than the substance of the platform implies. Say, your sleeping pattern, by your smartphone providers. Not everyone sets their alarm via their phone, plus why collect more than that?
It's not voluntary, if there is no real alternative. Both in having to agree to wayyy more than the service would imply. As well as in being tracked, followed and breached by many parties anyway.

Contemporary journalism:
1. Start about polls. Because these are sacred and prime.
2. Provide your questions in an ignorant, uninformed matter that also implicitly disrespects the interviewee from a journalism point of view, since you are unwilling to provide details or delve into the topics adequately yourself:
"Tell me what you think about taxation. Because I know that's one of the policies of yours that has garnered the most attention. Could you just kinda summarize it for us in a nutshell?" [journalism like this provides ample opportunity for simple promotional, populistic answers, I know Johnson missed out on that, but that's besides the point]
3. Counter the argument or answer with generalizations and/or abstract accusations, firstly preventing an insightful answer towards the interviewee and secondly inflating the interview towards meaningless levels.
"Most of the worlds' economies, most of the worlds' economists disagree with you" [not important what it means, why they disagree, if they have addressed the issue literally, etc. This pushes for yes or no, in favour or against, exactly what you might think you need but what you don't need].
Sure Johnson was not consistently too bright in his answers, yet I don't only want to criticize him.

People are saying here that discussing philosophies isn't the same as consenting. True. But that's not enough to prevent criticism on Jared since he DOES affiliate with patriotism and 'American' values. Listen to the beginning again, people.
"The thing that does draw me back constantly, despite how often it is rebooted, is just how American Spiderman truly is. (..) He embodies fundamental elements of American ideology. (..) So cue that patriotic music and welcome to this amazingly American Wisecrack edition on the Philosophy of Spiderman."
There you go, the link can't be denied: attraction lies in patriotism. What are these values, as put forward by Jared himself, then?
1:00 "Many superheroes embody American values. Standing up for the little guy, fighting for what's right, adhering to a strict moral code--but Spiderman does so in a way that uniquely reflects America's role in the world."
Here the link is established between aforementioned American values and its foreign policy. A view on foreign policy to which the rest of the world and some critical Americans reply: "yehhhh, no".
And there you have the link, paraphrased from own words: "The thing that does draw me back constantly is how Spiderman uniquely reflects American values in its role in the world."
I understand people perceive the discussion of philosophies in the video as informative and not taking sides, yet the attraction in the superhero and origin of the video are vocally bolstered by patriotism. Jared mentions it himself! In addition, criticizing this patriotism and biased view on values and policy, doesn't mean the video is dismissed as propaganda, neither that you're anti-American or anti-Jared/Wisecrack. I really enjoy the videos, this was a swing and a miss however.

Wait, the guy who proclaims 'the state sanctifies' marriage by enshrining the responsibility to procreate, and wants to ban abortion, gays, trans, and appeals to libertarian ideals yet pushes military overspending, bombing of civilians, bends to corporatie power and bases all his post-the-fact rationalizations on religious fundamentalism,
in effect always advocating for 'the free marketplace' while striving to police everything he dislikes,
morphing history to make huis point, while always strawmanning his opponents into positions he rallies others to attack,
and abuses 'freedom of speech' to incite hatred and bigotry,
and directs incited langer towards made up boogeymen and 'postmodern' or 'woke' 'libs',
and uses media specifically to indoctrinate his viewers to distrust other media in general,
...Isn't a facist? What?
