You can be sympathetic towards others that create as well; but remain sharp in your assessment and judgement. Which is what you did. And I think your 'changes' here are weaker than your original critiques. It's ok to be a critic; no critic should ever be validated by the fact he should produce as well. Your experiences as a content creator shouldn't exonerate someone else's simplified and disingenuous content by the association of both being content creators. I can understand what you're trying to say, but after watching so many TSoL videos that seem unbased and directed from a specific ideology (I mean the philsophers and sociologists I know and have read are butchered over there), I feel your sympathy for the craft on creating content shouldn't mean any less sharp social critique. Especially since TSoL and your channel are in totally different leagues in terms of staff and resources.

Saying this is a ripoff/copy insults the unique characters; the layered psyche of Elliot not just having an insomnia hallucination, but early on unexplained but continuously more delved into psychological development, instability and disorder; themes of hacking, data and control (the hacking is realistic and convincing, find another series that does so); progress beyond the revolutionary act (i.e. season 2 and further); company power and policies, police investigation juxtaposed with (potential for) social revolt; not to mention the themes of control in this WiseCrack video that are certainly not entirely similar to Fight Club just because of one focus on commodity. Fight Club is amazing, just as Mr Robot is amazing. The creators of Robot are honest in their inspiration from Fight Club. But they do a lot more as well - and understandably with so much more time in series. Another tl;dr would be: Don't enjoy ANY movie/series where there is time travel in the plot since [name earlier movie here] has done it before. .. really?

  12. 13:00 this has always been to easy of a stance. For starters, we don't "give away everything". We are being tracked and followed regardless if we even use Facebook. It is taking, rather than receiving on the end of data collecting. Second, even if we "give away" by filling in forms online, add bios, share experiences; we don't necessarily say these data could be monetized. And third, it's not like we could use many apps and services without being breached by the providers for far more than the substance of the platform implies. Say, your sleeping pattern, by your smartphone providers. Not everyone sets their alarm via their phone, plus why collect more than that? It's not voluntary, if there is no real alternative. Both in having to agree to wayyy more than the service would imply. As well as in being tracked, followed and breached by many parties anyway.

Sure Johnson was not consistently too bright in his answers, yet I don't only want to criticize him.
