No kid is going to go leafing through an old, huge tome hundreds of pages long (with few or no illustrations) to randomly find an odd verse here or there that could even remotely be considered titilating. Besides, unlike this book that is being discussed, what the Bible records (as the history of mankind) is not at all the same as what it teaches (advocates). Your objection reminds me of that joke about the guy who, trying to receive some wisdom from God opened the Bible and blindly pointed at random verses, only to read, "Judas went and hanged himself..." (Matt. 27:5); "Go, and do thou likewise" (Luke 10:37); and, finally: "(What) thou doest, do quickly" (John 13:27).

That was purely an attempt by the school board to shut the parent up and try to keep other parents (and the conservative media) from knowing/reporting what was going on.

@josedeliz1404 the way I understood it was that the board was voting that the book was appropriate for kids and that if the parent had concerns, his only recourse was to express them privately to a committee which would (most likely) just ignore them and keep the book's contents under wraps from other parents and the media.

That's what a young black woman pastor told my husband and me, many years ago, in so many words (but without the "d" expletive you used). It took us a long time to figure out why she was so triggered. I guess b/c their church was in an economically-depressed neighborhood (not our usual congregation--we were just guests there while visiting out-of-state relatives)—she felt we didn't "belong" and was subtly letting us know it. 😕 It's sad that she blamed others for the run-down state of her own community, though. Perhaps if the churches there would quit making excuses for their local residents (including some church members) drug-dealing, destroying property, stealing, mugging, gang activity, dropping out of school, worshiping gangsta rap "artists," fornicating, disrespecting their elders, burning and looting local businesses, murdering, etc., they would be happier, self-respecting, more self-sustaining and a credit to their communities.

Here He is referring to agape (Gr.) = "God's love"; phileo = friendship love; and storge (love of parents for children; siblings' affection, etc.). Progressive religionists want to disregard the Apostle Paul as much as possible (usually in favor of Matthew chap. 5); as Paul calls Christians to spiritual maturity through discipleship.

Is there any reason too trivial that pro-aborts won't want to snuff out an innocent baby's precious life? (Usually) unmarried young adults are old enough to "have sex" in an unhealthy, mutually-abusive short-term, revolving "relationship" (or a "one-night stand"); but never quite mature enough to take responsibility, it seems. Funny how that goes.

@rhondamyers4936 My earlier reply was to someone else, who apparently afterwards deleted their comment. So I deleted mine. I am not for abortion in any manner. It just concerns me that Democrats were switching their political affiliation to independent in NH in order to vote in their Republican primary (and thus attempting to weaken legal protections for unborn children (among other things) in November).

Pro-aborts like the terms "zygote," "fetus," "embryo"... even "blastocyst"; because they fall on the non-discerning ear (or eye, if reading) as, "non-human glob of tissue." They make the little life seem not-so-important.... disposable, somehow. And that is sad. It's like no one ever, speaking of a "wanted" pregnancy, ever asks the expectant mother, "Is the fetus kicking yet?"

But most opinion polls that leftist organizations (i.e., Pew Research) write up will combine (say, for example) the three "hard cases" (rape/incest/mother's life ) together in one single "yes or no" question. That is so that those who might support an early induction of labor, or a C-section (what a mid-late/late term emergency delivery actually is) for the mother's life exception, are all lumped together with those who would prefer the baby dead due to deformed ears, or a tendency toward developing diabetes or whatever; or because they feel it is somehow just and reparative to kill a child for a crime committed by his or her father—and thus their more favored liberal position seems to have more support. The difference is the intended result. The first is to attempt to save both the life of the mother and the child, if possible; while the second (late term abortion) goal is a dead baby for which no one (doctor, mother, parents, "the system") has to be "responsible". 😑
