Comments by "Alex Meredith" (@alexander92179) on "Sir Keir Starmer says he will quit over 'beergate' if fined for breaking COVID rules" video.
The police investigated it in light of new evidence. Not the media or an MP kicking and screaming alone.
2
@Charles White nor the leaked memo that shows the curry and beer event was pre planned.
2
@asheer9114 more like cause there was fresh evidence that emerged.
2
The police barely looked at it the first time.
2
@nathanisamazing54 😂
2
@jamieeames8934 he might not resign if fined just cause he said he would. Anything can happen, but given the leaked memo that showed the event with curry and booze was pre planned, not thought of at the time like claimed, it wouldn't surprise me at all if he is fined. We shall see.
2
If he gets fined and doesn't resign, he would look worse than Johnson.
1
It all depends if he actually follows through if he is actually fined. Remember he called on Johnson to resign even before the investigation into his rule breaking on this began. But the police meanwhile are firmly into investigating Starmer and on that respect, he hasn't practiced what he preached.
1
@tonyc9572 well he called on Johnson to resign before the investigation, but he hasn't applied that to himself now he is being investigated. Also this is only happening in light of new evidence, not the Tories being bitter about the election.
1
@tonyc9572 same logic applies to Johnson. The investigation is still ongoing and began in light of new evidence.
1
@tonyc9572 there was, hence the police have began investigating properly now. He said he would resign, but that doesn't mean he actually will if he is fined.
1
@tonyc9572 they all are. I'm just saying he might not.
1
@Charles White yeah despite the claiming it was planned at the time.
1
Or he doesn't enact on his words (e.g. is fined but doesn't resign).
1
If Starmer is fined and doesn't resign like he said he would here, he is less integral than Johnson as the latter never promised to resign if he was fined himself (which he was and is still in the job).
1
@nozhki-busha yes. Ideally they would both resign at the same time.
1
@carol-f8f7d irrelevant to this.
1
@Blazegraze12 only based on rhetoric
1
@Blazegraze12 yeah will be interesting to see.
1
Let's hope none have raped anyone's daughters this time, the they won't be.
1
@molsy1768 😂😂
1
We would all be balling if we had a quid everytime a politician did that.
1
https://youtu.be/hk3jHFOpvIY So integral they banned most media outlets from attending. Only their favourite ones who will give Starmer an easy ride..
1
I never thought I would see the day where various gates involving booze, cake and curry would dominate domestic news for nearly half a year at least, let alone during a major cost of living crisis..
1
That's just rhetoric though.
1
@aktarhussain4437 😂😂
1
@147sterling6 actions speak louder than words. He said he would, but that doesn't mean he will follow through.
1
@Andrew-rc3vh 😂😂
1
Only rhetoric
1
He would only be integral if he enacted on his words should he be fined.
1
@andreasstavrinides6980 😂
1
Wouldn't bet on it. It would be like trusting Harold Shipman with medical advice.
1
It's all rhetoric. Remember when Nick Clegg ran his 2010 election campaign on fixing broken promises? That turned out so well didn't it...
1
😂

😂

@danielnixon1945 😂
1
And if he is fined and doesn't resign, then he has less integrity than Johnson, as he never promised to resign once he was fined.
1
@JLneonhug he can rally a crowd better than Starmer. Graham Stringer would be the best as he is a red wall MP, patriotic, eurosceptic, and voted against greater covid restrictions. Having another London based MP won't cut it. Plus Corbyn or someone like him would be the Tory's dream.
1
Yeah and Jimmy Saville was just a philanthropist.
1
@silversurfer328 the equivalent of saying Starmer is a man of honour just cause he said that.
1
Johnson never said he would resign. Starmer may well not resign if he is fined. His integrity would be lower than Johnson at that point.
1
@cartercarter3260 and I'm saying if he is fined and doesn't resign, his credibility would be worse given his promise here. But in fairness, I would trust Harold Shipman with medical advice now more than I trust Johnson, Starmer etc. over these gates. Just shows how absurd lockdowns were and how reprehensible they are for implementating and supporting them (or even going further and demanding longer, tougher measures cough cough Starmer).
1
@cartercarter3260 absolutely. I would be defending Starmer fully here against Johnson if he had opposed them or offered an alternative before.
1
😂😂
1
That will only be confirmed if he does actually resign should he receive the fine. He has deffo dug a bigger hole for himself, cause god knows who will be Labour leader should it go that way.
