  1. actually, real cartification is not a problem as most bodies will be quite happy with a full listing of all the tests as proof of complience. only those that make pay a lot to certify a point release are a problem, and those certificates become invalid the moment you apply an update. in fact parts of the us military use ci/cd based distributions to provide infrastructure as a service with quite high standards baked into the pipeline.

The problem with wayland, and most other replacement subsystems as well is that most of the people working on it work for linux distributions, and once it is dev complete, they let them just work on the new and shiny instead of insisting that some of the time is spent making it so the thing is fully usable for the rest of us. This leads to things like advanced features progressing, while basic features like accessibility (and plenty of other workflow critical stuff for existing users) get completely ignored. While this is fine if they are a dev working on it In their free time, when they work for a distribution it just is not good enough.
