@sylviam6535 as they get closer to the core, not only will the existing costs increase, due to the larger interface between the two languages, but more and more code can only be extended in the second language, so as it moves closer to the core the risk of having to duplicate the code in the original language so the rest of the kernel can use it goes up a lot, making the benefits of those patches more doubtful, and increasing the push back against the encroachment into core kernel space.
