It would spoil the fun. This "great debate" of capitalism vs socialism is actually a settled matter and no arguments survive for "collective control of the means of production". There is no way for socialists to support that totalitarian position of authority when the results have been horrible for the collective's members and the function of economy.

Taxes are not socialism, guy. No math remedy in economics has had socialist ideation. The thought of it is comedy. US has the highest wages on earth and that's per PPP. It is the largest example of a tax/spend capitalist welfare state in historical praxis. They seem to discuss this.

Obviously socialist political economy calls for state/collective totalitarian monopoly.

@user-tr9rw7ne8x Private entities running trade and economy is the pinnacle of freedom, historically and empirically. No other philosophy has abdicated the role of state over these same matters and the difference between autonomy and autocracy is the capitalist concept of privately allocated economics. The reason capitalist philosophy and not anarchist philosophy is able to provide this is because capitalism guarantees these freedoms with state force, whereas an anarchy leaves this freedom to happenstance or dictates, but via minarchy rather than a state as sophisticated as needed for the task (ie Paris Commune)

We sould expect otherwise from a demagogue of socialism?

They actually must be paid according to their employer's contractual obligation to them. For example, for several years now, Boeing has been paying employees more than the value produced. People are hired on the job market and value is determined on the commodity market. The expectation that these correspond is fragile.

@tomspettigue8791 There won't ever be an end to human rights. We can track the struggle of the populace to wrench our economic self-determination from the fists of government and now that these matters are private and proven to the tune of humanity's top standard of life, it's time for you people to stfu.

Wow. Must be an ignorant European. Only you guys will believe socialists have influenced a nation which has only had conservative and liberal politicians influencing politics and which has been at the forefront of contribution to economics (ie Ragnar Frisch), which no socialist has done since Ricardo in the 1820s.

Social democracy is capitalism. It is a specific format of government where private individuals, particularly businessmen, control government and government is not allowed control of the microeconomy or labor and the means of production.
1
@gooscomposer Offering credit to socialists for social democracy is not historic, however. In social democracies, liberal-democratic and labor partisans are opposed by conservative partisans and these are both committed to capitalist rights and the limitation of government to guarantee capitalism. Few if any socialists have ever been elected in any numbers. For example, the election of national socialists in Germany is the single case of dominant socialist partisanship in a social democracy and it resulted in the predictable reversal of social democracy and imposition of socialist totalitarianism. For another example, the nordic system states which lead the social democratic states with the highest social spend per capita, do so with a historical majority of conservatives and under the system architected by conservative economist Ragnar Frisch.

Capitalism is a politcal economic philosophy, guy. Capitalists are adherents to this concept. They are not a class of economic participant. The study of economic does not employ ignorant classist prejudice to the understanding of economics.

There's corporate influence on the US government, but you are mistaken that this has eliminated competition and innovation here. Not even close to reality... which is where socialist analysis begins.

@zigoter2185 All economies are mixed economy, but this is not a mix with socialism. This is a mix with state enterprise like postal services. Socialism is not philosophically mixed in nations like Norway which have had little or no socialist influence in their history. Norway's well known political economy - Nordic System/SOME - is the philosophy of one of capitalism's greatest contributors in Ragnar Frisch.
1
@zigoter2185 This is ignorance of basic economics. Socialism concerns the means of production, labor, exchange and distribution in an economy and not matters like postal services. It is not similar nor same to state enterprise, except where this enterprise owns or controls institutions for production, exchange or distribution.
1
@zigoter2185 This is not a state monopoly nor control of the means of production, even within the shipping industry, so it's not socialist and has nothing to do with socialism. You can also tell by noting that no socialist twats originated the concept. For example, socialist twat Bernie Sanders does not propose government hospitals ala VA and NHS. That was capitalist JM Keynes. Sanders' idea is to ban private medical insurance and private pay for healthcare and this will force the US into a socialist means, at least within the purview of healthcare.
1
It's worth noting that even in the US, social democracy and democratic socialism are separate and distinct. US is the largest social democracy in human history and has banned democratic socialism at the constitutional level, for an example of this distinction. This leaves US socialists in a desperate position to pretend that socialism is accepted in foreign lands and lying about Nordic economic history and praxis is a favorite. There should be no doubt about the socialist and not social democratic nature of US socialist proposals. Medicare for all is a socialist policy for example. This does not establish a state hospital system like US VA or NHS. This proposes a ban on the private trade of health insurance in the US. It attempts to propagate medicare, which is a state means of production and allocation of healthcare, to the whole population while eliminating any public recourse to alternative, private pay. National Socialism, it's called. Democracy solely refers to liberal democracy in the 21st century and US Democratic Socialism extends into totalitarian democracy notions like those of Marx, Lenin, Mao, Stalin and Kim. All democratic folks by the Sanders/socialist/19th century standard.

It's putting your foot down on basic rights, for example to contralt/exploit my own labor or to contract/exploit the labor of others, to own and keep the proceeds from my property, etc. Socialists are criticizing these rights as protected by UNCHR and US constitution, etc, because socialism is what is practiced in DPRK and China and against these specific concepts.
1
Summarily mutually exclusive.
1
@duckywarry1804 It's intentional.

It would be no fun if this debate was as settled as real life.
