@blindlobster OP's referencing a star trek scene, look up "there are four lights"

@scotthalligan5702 german history debunks this actually

even if your body has major problems, it doesn't mean somebody else's healthy body is yours and was misallocated. that's how a skinwalker would think, not a human. either way, there are a lot of natural things anyone can do to make the experience of being themselves nicer that most people don't do because it's less convenient than sitting on the couch with a phone. figure out what challenges you have and what would make the most impact on them and act accordingly and you can make your time on Earth more satisfying and enjoyable.

there are some rather unimaginative religions that think god(s) are just Big Dudes bumbling around and every unpleasantness in life is because Odin has temper tantrums or Zeus is a philanderer or whatever.
5
it's at least partially a result of people who weren't born at the apex of the pyramid of human genetic expression and social positioning using language to try and sneak their way up there. there's a kernel of truth in that awesome people shouldn't treat average and below average people as if they chose to be born that way, but people confuse social instruction for actual metaphysics.

changing the story I'm invested in once or twice can be a forgivable alternative to it grinding to a halt, but too many times and it shows contempt for the reader's investment. if halfway into Moby Dick, you swap the rest of the story for the second half of Steel Roses, that's not the same story anymore. I was interested in finding out how Moby Dick ends.

@Theranthrope take the W, celebrate it, and remember it won't be the last time you'll need to push back and take another W. vigilance, hold the blackpill.
4
@ichisichify so I guess he's retiring from saving the west if things are so unblemished for him, true?
3
interesting trivia, but probably not useful for the topic of deconstructing T ideology
3
@OpP-if6gw scoffing is not an argument
3
even as someone who's probably friendlier to quantum mysticism than Carl, it still doesn't justify internally inconsistent trans beliefs.
3
@nathanielweber7843 if you have the truth, it shouldn't matter whether a question comes from a troll or not. if you have the answer, only the question matters, not the questioner. this just means you don't think the evidence holds water.
2
@Purwapada telling someone to change his major to philosophy and become unemployable is a little mean. study philosophy online for free OP. Just vet your sources, obviously.
2
@OdinistHeathen transgenderism and mass migration were necessary reactions to Christian infighting? for what purpose were they necessary?
2
remember them as the puffers they were
2
there were cults around messianic figures, but of course things didn't really work out for most of them as far as building a following
2
even if the argument was watered down, the strongest version of it still doesn't hold water. hormones don't swap Ys for Xs or vice versa. there are better but still wrong versions of the "I'm Frankenstein's monster" argument that could be made but I'm not giving them free ammo, lol
2
The Wheel weaves as The Wheel wills, and human lives are but threads in the pattern.
2
yes and we have a word for it: scientism. it's at least as big of a religion as football
2
wait until you realize the data are "curated."
2
Elon would be happy to transition you to Mars I'm sure
2
@quinnroberts3158 are all kinds of body modification equal? is a surgery to separate two people who are fused together the same kind of body modification as one that removes healthy organs? failure to make these kinds of distinctions permits reasoning like "the paying customer and the thief both take the loaf of bread out of the store so they're both acceptable actions." distinctions are important.

every other flavor of this feeling gets a name like Cotard's Delusion (the feeling that you're somehow alive but trapped in a corpse) but for some reason this specific variety gets accommodations throughout many different levels of society. it's almost like our science is incomplete and some people are making decisions who shouldn't be
1
@rennscott5808 it's empathy driven because people who know better and repeat it anyway think they're being accommodating to people who have a screw loose, but it's harmful because those people don't think they're being humored, they think the polite lie is real and act as if it's real.
1
@bonitabromeliads it is up to scientists unless their goal is to have a caste society. Popper is whirling in his grave at your attitude.
1
@haramsaddam238 are we certain Dawkins doesn't have ASD?
1
@Alexander_Kale how's that eternal vigil going?
1
mechanics are experts in their field (relative to laymen) and people have no problem distrusting them. treat bought and paid for scientists as at least as shady as your local mechanic
1
@Zan_Jayna "hitler drank water" logic
1
they call people who try to use biology to back their arguments mean names because they're pointing out that ultimately it's a mental illness rather than something wrong with the body's other organs. that and the ones who want to "socially transition" (read: perv on women in segregated bathrooms) don't want it to be seen as a medical issue so they can keep being men in dresses and not chop their bits off.
1
@BattleBro77 where did you "bullying is good" submissives come from?
1
@lotgc on a surface level mormonism probably does seem fairly christian. basically nobody knows this but alistair crowley was a big influence on joseph smith. if you're curious you can look up which planetary amulet smith was wearing when he died and what it symbolizes
1
Zen practitioners are supposed to adopt something called "beginner's mind" and keep it as a virtue for the rest of their lives, because it's an excellent way of avoiding mistakes caused by hubris.
1
@rabbitrun777 it's baseline paganlarper behavior. they want a strong, tough, (literally insane in the case of Odin) daddy to punish their enemies while they fondle themselves to pictures of little girls. at least the niezche fanboys can claim we knocked God off when they get caught being unmanly.
1
even pop spiritualists like Alan Watts figured this one out! if we can presuppose gendered spirits who fall into the wrong body at the Incarnation Factory, that's not more compelling than the idea that we are all God in disguise, and when we're born into a warzone or in a disfigured body or a deluded mind, we are exactly where we intended to be.

Canada during covid sounds like it was nearly as bad as the USSR.
