he's not wrong, a policeman's job isn't to learn the language of any tourist from any random part of the world, it's to enforce local laws.

@oscardalmatiner8724 bro thinks he's Yasuke :face-purple-crying:

they could say a lot worse than "golden," they're still showing restraint imo

@ShmooyShmoo more like because the US armed forces has such a presence in South Korea that it's affected the cooking in Seoul, but be offended if you want lmao

smartphones and the internet have been an incredible tool for law enforcement. goofy mfers will go online and show their own bodycam footage of the crimes they commit

@el-karasu6070 it's not anyone's choice but Johnny's. He decided he was cool with people who look like him taking a preemptive hit to their reputation in east Asia, same as Logan Paul did with whites when he acted like an asshat in Japan.

@jameslee2289 he's going to look absolutely haggard when he gets out

🤓 considering how close Japan and Korea are, that can of Asahi might've actually come from Japan

Glad he made a high-profile example of himself to wake up Eastern countries. American cities are full of people like him, he just found out how to monetize his personality defects. Too bad he won't see a dollar of it for at least a decade.

as an American it blows my mind. when I go to someone else's home in this country I'm checking to see what the rules are, let alone the other side of the world.

he's a dark-skinned African person with American citizenship, speaks English, the countries he's making an ass of himself in are going to see him as black. It's the same as how most Americans don't know native Japanese and Koreans have different ethnicities and just see them all as the same. I'm not saying you have to claim him but I'm saying they're not going to have the same understanding as you without going out of their way to understand a culture they don't have any familiarity with other than dubbed hollywood movies.

it'll be an easy PR win for whichever administration gets on it, this one or the new one. No American who knows about this guy likes him (I hope)

@SheCodes2024 that's not how it's going to be perceived.

I guess this is me having a "boomer moment" but as an American it blows me away. I figure out the rules when I visit a friend's house in the same city, I couldn't imagine treating another country as my trash can.

@BeersAndBeatsPDX I knew a guy who would tell me how he "doesn't even feel emotions" and then wait expectantly for me to tell him how cool I thought that was. Unfortunately for his ego I already knew he had alexithymia by the way he acted and it's more pitiable than cool.

@protectedd a delinquent with a camera is a psyop? I went to school with dozens of these kids, the only difference now is how easy it is for them to get this much attention.
