  1. ​ @laurendoe168 the issue is less to do with age, I'm a millennial born in the tail end of the 90s and people my age and younger don't understand it either. Part of it is due to being able to get by without understanding the inner workings most of the time, part of it is the complexity is deliberately locked away by phone and tablet operating systems, and part of it is simple lack of interest. They don't want control, they want the magic box to be as magical and simple as possible, even if that means it tells them what to do instead of the other way around. When they do need to understand directory structures, they just memorize which icons to click with no deeper understanding. If you tell them something like "your C drive lives on your computer and your Onedrive files live somewhere else," it doesn't click with them. All the files are in their screen, what do you mean they're somewhere else??

I bought an OEM copy of windows 8.1 ages ago and no matter what hardware changes I make, the key has never been revoked. over the years I've gone through 4 CPUs and I'm on my third motherboard, plus all the countless drives and PCI components and nothing seems to trip the DRM. No idea what made me slip through the cracks but I definitely feel like I'm getting my money's worth!
