if you have compassion for someone else, you wouldn't overinflate their ego and set them up for failure, but you also wouldn't want them to be so down on themselves that they ignore their own strengths. now just treat yourself that way, easy!

I started consistently doing that at the beginning of this year, and even if a day turns out to be a waste, I try to do something like take 10 minutes to meditate before bed, or remind myself I'm doing stuff like brushing my teeth and eating that if I skipped I'd be in really bad shape. Reminding myself of the little things makes it easier to do "real" tasks the next day, and it usually ends up making up for the "wasted" day anyway as long as I remind myself I'm not dipping below baseline.

@graphs1524 well, it sounds like you're thoughtful. there are probably things about yourself that just need some fine tuning or a change of perspective

@UnlockingCentralFlorida another way to approach the concept is through the idea of the "eternal now" which just means that the only unit of time you can be certain of is the immediate present because it's happening to you, your memories could be inaccurate or fabricated and you have no way of distinguishing them from dreams other than by faith. from that perspective is where we get the idea that each day is a self-contained life. I don't think it's objectively true, but if you entertain the idea it's a way of accepting your performance fluctuates day to day, because each day you're some new person. basically just don't take it literally unless you're really into epistemology and thought experiments 😅

@enzolumare5680 well yes but it's so you can clear out the clutter and pursue stuff you actually want, not what you've been conditioned to want. and you can be ok even if you don't get what you want
