had to do this with a childhood friend. I let him get too comfortable taking the lead all the time and choosing to hang with me mainly when his cooler friends were busy or sick of him. fast forward several years and I've met friends and a gf on my own who I was excited to introduce him to at the time and to make a long story short he basically had a slow motion meltdown over the course of two years where he managed to take his reputation from likeable sympathetic guy to brazen insecure asshole we all had to cut contact with. to this day he tells people I traded up to better friends and left him like I didn't introduce him to them all and watch him act insane. I tried but nobody wants to be around a guy who warps reality to make sure he's always the victim and never did anything wrong in his life while starting drama
