@unionunicorn6776 I've known a guy with overt and covert narcissistic behavior patterns since he was 8 and he's now in his mid-20s, maybe I can offer some insight into why people can have trouble empathizing with narcissists. it's healthy to want to be liked by your peers, but what sets narcissists apart is what they're willing to do that other people are not. The guy I know has a lifelong pattern of putting others down to soothe his own ego, getting into arguments when they stand up to him, gaslighting the person he's arguing with until they either break down and go along with it or get fed up with him, and then seeking comfort from someone else by retelling the story with enough truth to resemble the event but twisting things just enough so that it seems like the other person was being irrational for no reason and he was unfairly victimized. I always hoped he'd just grow out of it but he recently did something I can't look past to somebody else I know who genuinely did nothing but try to help him up until he screwed her over. There's a lot more but this is a comment not a blog post. At this point I have to cut him off for my own sanity and I'm hoping losing a friend he's known as long as me is a wakeup call.

@Justanothercog24 a former friend of mine pulled this on me over a scheduling disagreement. I can't trust him with simple things like knowing when I'm online now because it turns into the spanish inquisition if he doesn't like how I'm spending my time. As soon as I'm in a position where I'm sure he can't throw a tantrum and potentially destroy my stuff I'm cutting contact.

two and a half minutes in and this is already sounding a hell of a lot like a friend of mine who's always been kind of a problem but recently blew up in a big way on me and a mutual friend. I'm glad someone recognizes this pattern of behavior in people and has a plan to deal with it
