I can't get behind the "choice is bad" sentiment linux popularizers seem to have. it's confusing for people new to linux but it's not a downside. if the linux ecosystem looked like the web browser ecosystem you'd be wailing about how canonical and redhat rule with an iron fist. just funnel newbies to steamos or mint or something and pretend the rest of the linux world doesn't exist if you don't like choice.
