So we're talking about a percentage decline over 14 years, and you're pinning all of that on Biden? Look at 2:52 in the video. The low point of availability was in 2018. That's Trump era, so shouldn't you be blaming him, not Biden? Reality is that this is across both parties, over 6 presidential periods. The issue is honestly too much money spent on complex equipment, at far inflated prices. Just look at how much got wasted in the F-35 project, to make a badly compromised plane nobody wants or is happy with. It should never have been a 3 service hybrid plane. That's why it's such a turkey. Indeed it's an even bigger turkey since the Chinese know everything about it since they downloaded all the specs, and have surely been running simulations non stop for the past decade on how best to defeat it.

WHY then was the lowest availability in the graph under Trump? Clearly visible in 2017 and 2018, which is Trump. Don't be so silly. This stuff is cyclical because of congressional funding coming in tranches that last over years or even decades. A guy who got elected a year or two ago has basically got zero impact on funding or availability. The funding just shifts from service to service, as America decides its defensive needs, with the Navy usually getting the highest priority.

F35 is junk and I wish we had never bought them.

Look at the 2017 and 2018 data where availability is at it's lowest. Tell me who was the President then?

Look at the graphs showing availability is lowest in 2017 and 2018, under your wannabe orange haired fuhrer. 2:52 in the video if you need a hint.

@startingbark0356 BWAHAHA! Compared to the obstructionist republicans, particularly Mitch McConnell, who is regularly called a "cancer on democracy" for his complete partisan obstructionism? You know, "you can't appoint supreme court vacancies because of the forthcoming election" then of course the republicans did what exactly? Stuffed as many as they could in there... even going to choosing younger incompetents so they could bias the court for decades to come. You're obviously not paying much attention to US political history. Regardless, rither party is in power one of the few things that is guaranteed large amounts of funding is the military. The limitations are more likely to be extremely dumb and wasteful purchasing decisions that are made not by a President, but congress as a budgetary whole, based on the stakeholder recommendations of each arm of the forces. Given that most military purchase contracts are a commitment for building and maintainance over decades, this is hardly suprising.

@obliviouz the problem there with the "dogfighting *is no longer important*" argument is that the F15-EX and other alternative long range delivery platforms have more missiles, with potential to carry longer range missiles, and a get the hell out of dodge option. None of which the F35 has. So my point is made, even if dogfighting is irrelevant, the F35 is still a poor platform with high maintenance cost and low firepower per mission. 30% more weapons, almost twice the range, 50% more speed, way better manoeuvrability and survivability.

Most likely and simulators are great in theory but in many cases are near worthless in practice as they don't feel remotely similar.

The problem is when you need 100% availability because you go to war... well a turkey is still a turkey.

Letting your enemy know you still have 5 times their capability even at your worst is a problem?

America released a number. Are you sure it's correct?

@cad5238 as a person paying over three times the tax of the average citizen, the answer is kind of yes.

How does the money for the US Defence spending go to Pelosi, especially in 2017-2018 when she was in opposition and the American Air force was at it's weakest in years? I guess she somehow mind controlled Trump to give her large amounts of money?

Means building a lot more of them initially. Great when you build the worlds largest, most bloated armed forces and let stuff stand around idle for decades at the cost of economic efficiency. not so good otherwise.
