Just don't start a drinking game involving "Australian troops performed admirably" but "let down by shocking command" or you'll end up having your stomach pumped out

The huge number of infected camps in the US, and the first documented cases in Haskell County, Kansas, near a major US military base going back to January 1918 present a most likely scenario that the source was the United States and that in effect this was unleashed upon the world by the United States. It certainly didn't come from Spain, where it was not recorded until some 4 months later. While the source couldn't be proven beyond reasonable doubt in a court of law with the technology available then, it's pretty much mostly accepted by the scientific community now that the source was America. Not that this is really relevant - this is just one of those things that happen. But it's worth holding that same viewpoint when a similar outbreak of disease or viral infection comes along, rather than trying to blame and sue nations for damages. Otherwise the US has a LOT more reparations to pay over the 50 million plus dead from the 1918-20 flu pandemic than China has over Covid-19. But how far do we go back? To nations that no longer exist? Can we blame the Mongul Khanates for the Black Plague? The Egyptians for the greatest killer known to man, smallpox? The Spanish for unleashing a string of European viruses into the Americas? Hopefully people can see the impossibility of it.

Actual Ground Zero was Haskell County, Kansas. If modern variant naming conventions were used it would be something like A/Kansas/02/1918 (H1N1)
