Scary storm recommendation? 2011 Queensland floods. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0XhlznErnM

Most of those storms smash the Logan and Gold Coast region. The geography creates our own "tornado alley" of a sort with those areas prone to massive wind, rainfall and hail. Hail stones of 5+ inches across are not that uncommon in that region.

We don't have tornadoes we have cyclones, hurricanes and willy willies (or dust devils). You could argue that FNQ and the tip of the NT have Typhoons too as they are in an area that gets Monsoonal rain rather than just Tropical rain. Much of this is just semantics. Cyclones are HUGE and can last for weeks on end and can travel thousands of miles inland. Willy willies are are small hurricanes that only last for a few minutes at a time, usually without extensive damage. These are very common in rural land where localised heat differentials create intense temperature gradients but cannot build enough energy over a large enough area to sustain high velocity winds for long.
