Suburbs outside Brisbane council but still in the greater Brisbane city often see sub zero (Celsius) temperatures. Out around Ipswich, Amberley -3on a winter morning is pretty common). When I lived in The Gap (well within Brisbane council and about 6 miles from the city centre) winter mornings of -1 or -2 degrees were common in the mid 2000's. Even further north in Queensland has been known to see snow, like as far north as Mackay in the Great Dividing range. You can also see snow on Uluru pretty easily with a quick web search. Clermont has been below 0 Celsius already this year and that is literally TROPICAL. Many of those central Queensland towns in the ranges get bitterly cold. We may not have huge mountain ranges anymore but the great dividing range is much higher than people expect. Places like Roma regularly see -5. Around Warwick and Stanthorpe -7 is common. We have a waterfall at Ebor that can actually freeze solid and that's just south of the Queensland border.
