HFCS is gross. It's a "subsidising farmers" thing that forces Corn to be used for all sorts of things that it really isn't good at - making syrups, feeding cattle, using it for biofuel (cane sugar is 16 times as efficient for this by the way). Europeans do this with Sugar Beet too, by the way, because of the colder climate not being suited to sugar cane. I don't get it from America though, because you have geography and climate that would be suitable to grow it in certain areas. Maybe it's because Brazil's labour costs (they make lots of sugar cane) would still be cheaper? I dunno. Most of our sugar industry has diversified away to other crops as we find it hard to compete with Brazil on the white stuff too. I don't like any of the syrup cokes you get from fast food outlets. Compared to the tinned or bottled stuff that uses cane sugar, they're all disgusting.
