  1.  @2DogsVlogs  What industry are you admin for? There will be a Union for it, whether it's construction, healthcare, government services, transport, hospitality or retail there is a union that exists.

  2. At the moment you'd make $1200 a week as a bare minimum as a beginning forklift driver in a capital city, or you'd walk out the door and be in a new job tomorrow. Assuming a little bit of overtime or saturday work you'd want at least $1500 a week for a decent operator or else you'd leave and have a new job paying that the next day. The guys down at CCA (Coca Cola Amatil) are earning 6 figures a year with overtime, and have been for years. They're one of the better looked after workplaces of course.

  3. America is quite frankly an amazing country - enormous natural wealth and beauty, huge economic output, friendly people and enormous potential. Yet it squanders that enormous GDP by funnelling that money into a far too small group of people, leaving far too many struggling on multiple jobs below the poverty line, while those at the very top pay virtually no tax at all. Sadly, for all the brilliance shown by American teachers, scientists and researchers, the industrial capabilities the nation has go to making the already unimaginably rich even richer rather than improving the quality of life of it's people. I don't know whether it is because the political system requires so much money to get into that those in power have spent years isolating from the lived reality of the country's people, or it's because everyone's second jobs and side hustles mean that wealth becomes the only focus. I honestly couldn't imagine living there. It'd do my head in. Yet most people you speak to online from the US think that it's the best place in the world, because "freedom"... IMHO Working 3 jobs to support your family ain't freedom. It's just a different, legal kind of slavery. The sooner more Americans (like yourself) open their eyes to how different much of the world is and how much better it can be for the citizens the sooner Americans can get a better deal for themselves. Is getting paid holiday leave and affordable health care too "socialist" for Americans? Or just for the few in power who need to protect their political donors?

  4. The National Minimum Adult Wage in Australia is $20.33 per hour as of 1st July 2021. Last I knew that figure in some states of America is as low as $7.25, but can be even lower in an industry where tipping occurs, as exemptions exist to minimum wage law. And when I say as low as $7.25 an hour, I'm not just cherry picking one state. That is the minimum standard in 21 states and has not increased in 12 years.

  5. Not quite that simple, it depends on the Enterprise Bargaining Agreement or Award you are on. My current job is based on 160 hours per 4 week cycle, meaning you can technically work 63 hours a week and earn no overtime for that week. (I'm not complaining though as I do get weekend penalties, overtime at 175%, and average out something over double the average full time salary) However, I've also had jobs where "full time" was as low as 36 hours per week. I've heard of as low as 33 1/2 hours being classified as a full time week in an award.
