  2. As far as banning, it totally killed off N1, Group A touring cars, and various road production based classes. It was undefeated over a period of 7 years in Japan in Group A and Group N1 despite class weight and boost limits being handicapped. It was almost the same in Australia - the GTR arrived late in 1989 and Nissan won the 1989 series off Richards winning the last race in the R32, then won the following 3 years straight and Group A was canned in favour of a Domestic V8 series. Which is when lobbying basically killed motorsport for me in this country. Can't keep up? Get the rules changed for you. Urgh.

  3. IIRC Australia and Japan were the only countries in the world that got official, off the showroom floor, factory support GTR Skylines. That was due to Nissan (we say Nis-san) having such a long history in the country, the RHD cars, and of course Bathurst. Skaife is pronounced Skay-fe Tooheys is pronounced more like Too(h)-eys. The H is almost but not quite silent, so not quite a Too-eys but certainly not a Too-heys. All in all, you do pretty good at 'stray-an pro-nun-ci-a-tion.
