  1.  @kirk5152  the brand was named after the person who was the inventor of the cheesemaking process, and had been so for over 80 years. We don't have raccoons in Australia, which is where that particular racial slur came from, either, so if it was used in that way it was extremely rare. As such it seemed to be an non existent problem being addressed for the sake of PR from a head office on the other side of the globe where the product isn't even sold. Predictably, there's been a huge backlash against it and what used to be Australia's most popular cheese is now a sales dud. Most Australians now refuse to buy it on principle. We've got plenty of other locally made and owned products we can choose from instead. Kraft's share price has tanked in recent years - less than half what it was 5 years ago. It was a $91 a share company, and is now a $38 a share company in the pandemic era where most food produce companies have skyrocketed in value. Good idea? Good management? You tell me.

  2. SADS (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is a real thing. People even get it in Tasmania and Melbourne, especially shiftworkers who rarely see the sun. My life and mental health are so much better in Queensland than Victoria.

  6.  @Hamoner00  There's a lot of inland lakes in Canada compared to Australia, which technically counts as land mass even though it's water, thus not usable arable land. Australia? Lakes? Not so much, despite how big Lake Eyre can get occassionally.

  7. Canada is one of the few countries I could see myself living in outside of Oz. (Sorry USA). I just don't know how I would go with the cold. Spiders, snakes? No problem. Temperatures below 17 Celsius? Terrified. America definitely has some states that I could see myself living in, Maine, Oregon as examples, but then you look at other states say Washington, Arizona, New Mexico, California or Georgia and you're like ermmm... this part maybe, but that bit no way. The scope and natural beauty of America is top notch though, with Hawaii and Alaska on top of the Contiguous 48 it's got a range of climates and experiences even Australia struggles to beat. You've got some problems there, environment and political, healthcare and economic right now that I just can't ignore. Not that Canada and Australia don't face challenges too, but it looks more likely that there is a way forward on those challenges.

  11. C**n cheese? It's on a lifetime boycott from most people because they renamed it Cheer. That'll be a get woke go broke moment. Plenty of publically listed companies have copped a lot of stick for vegan friendly or halal certification in Australia. Most survive, but I don't think that cheese brand will survive. Kraft will continue on, but a famous brand within the Kraft stable is on it's last legs.
