  1. They can get over 2 metres tall (over 6'6") and they can be aggressive enough to attack dogs and humans, at least when they perceive themselves under threat and feel they cannot escape. But they will normally make aggressive displays then choose to run after a threat display whenever possible when faced with dogs or humans. Unlike some of the bigger monitor lizards which will definitely have a go at your dog. Are carnivorous and can definitely hunt smaller species. Venomous, too, of course. This is Australia after all.
