  1. It can mimic any sound it hears within it's vocal range (which is huge). Some animals prove their suitability for mating with size, or strength. Most other birds use dancing, or colourful plumage. To lyrebirds, the way they prove they're the best is complexity of song. So they copy EVERYTHING and add it into their song. Car alarms, horns, bicycle bells, woodchopping, telephone rings, other birds songs, babies screaming... anything they can add to complexity of their song basically can pull them a mate.
