An average Aussie Rules football player is around 6'3" and 200lbs and has to run around 12-14 miles during a game. Obviously the elite athletes can be chosen for size, long distance running capability, strength, or agility depending on their role within the team. So there will be players as tall as 7 feet tall who are still required to be able to run, jump and have both hand and foot ball skills on par with an NFL Kicker and a NBL Basketballer. We don't tend to see guys much bigger than 230-240 lbs. Even though their size and strength can be advantageous, they tend not to be able to keep up with the pace of the game, and the quick turns required tend to cause knee and ankle injuries as their body weight increases. Most of the big stars of the game, such as the star "power" forwards, are around the 6'6" and 230 pound range, although the star midfielders (who run the furthest) are smaller and tend to be ONLY about 6'4" and about 200 lbs
