@Dominikize Because the german records are hopeless, such little of them are available? That's alluded to in the video.
The tank and vehicle numbers would include lend lease. Although much of the lend lease vehicles were unsuitable, and therefore show inflated equipment levels that the russians wouldn't put into front line service.
For instance the M3 (M3 Lee/Grant) which the Russians called "A grave for Seven Brothers". That's almost 1000 or almost 10% of the US lend lease effort and the Russians would only use them in secondary fronts.
As also is seen, many of them were also light tanks - 1200 odd obsolete M3A1 Stuarts, over 5000 M2-M9 Half Tracks, including MGMC versions which might count as "armoured vehicles" but aren't going to do much against a Panzer III or StuG.
Obviously anything is better than nothing, but many of these vehicles were either woefully obsolete, or were completely unsuited to the conditions.
But in 1942, when the Russian Army was at it's weakest, they made up over 10% of the armoured vehicles of the Russian army.
Out of the 12,000 US Lend Lease vehicles, however there was about 4000 Shermans, over the course of the war.
