Not left behind. It's got the boot of the state on its neck.

I like this post on Instagram ================== I worked there in 1957 and have fond memories of the place and the friendly group of people I worked with - Five males and about 50 females. The jam wasn't bad either - all "Hand Made", by Arthur, in big stainless steel pans from real fruit pulp & sugar. Arthur used to wear wooden clogs with steel plates on the soles Reg supervised the women who hand filled and packed the jars Periodically, Harold the "Cooper/Cellar Man" (the fruit came in barrels) swept the chimney and me and the other lad wheeled the soot to the bottom of the yard to dump by the railway tracks. It was hard work, carrying and lifting the fruit & sugar shoulder high into the vast pans. The boiling hot jam splashed onto your skin sometimes and it would stick to you and burn like "Heck" ! But it was well paid and I enjoyed my time there - "Happy Days". Thanks for the reminder with the photo of the "Big old Chimney" ===================

@wanderingturnip It's interesting and maybe another angle for you. Like you, I found that comment interesting. It's transient, it disappears with time.' Now you have traces left, like the chimney pointing out what went on. Another example, Jean Calment, the only person to make it to 120 years old. Lived in Arles in the south of France. Her parents ran an art shop. So a journalist interviewing her had done a bit of research and asked her if he had met Van Gogh. Yes, she said, and he stank, I couldn't stand the smell. That disappears with time. So the idea. Why not interview people if you can find them who worked in the Jam factory? [or others] I'm sure there are stories and stories that will be lost unless recorded. One of my peeves with the BBC is the lack of working class representation. It's part of why I don't fund it.

@jimbob-robob So where are the trillions the workers have paid the socialist welfare state? Why does the state make a 30% gross profit on its services? How does 'care' solve anything?
