  2. Meanwhile, the traffic in our city is at a minimum and that's thanks to having superb transit. Pyongyang not only has a beautiful metro with two lines, but it also has a tram system with three lines and a shuttle line (between Samhung on the Metro and Kumsusan Palace of the Sun), and that's on top of trolleybuses as well. Pyongyang used to have a tram system before the war (one of three systems in the whole peninsula; Seoul and Busan were the other two) but as a result of the war's destruction, the whole city had to be rebuilt from scratch which my grandpa managed to achieve. Kim Il-sung is a role model for so many. Where there was darkness because of warfare, my grandpa showed the light.

It was first settled in 1614 after Henry Hudson sailed up the river later named after him, where the Dutch claimed it and constructed Fort Nassau (which was eventually rebuilt due to a flood as Fort Orange). Access to that river was completely destroyed in the sixties by a highway system so complex, it was used in the movie Salt. Neighborhoods were destroyed for the highway and the state office complex. There's now a project that looks into replacing the highways with a boulevard, which will result in the same amount of acreage that was destroyed for the state office complex to be used for residential development, including low-income and mixed-use housing, and most importantly, once again provide access to the river for all to enjoy.

  4. China isn't hosting the 2023 AFC Asian Cup. Back on May 14, they announced due to the circumstances of their pandemic policy, they cannot host the cup. That being said, as great as this stadium is, our beautiful Rungrado May Day Stadium which hosts our famous Arirang Mass Games has a way bigger capacity. Xi'an's stadium will have 60K, ours has a capacity of 114,000. For the longest time it was the world's largest stadium...until India stole our thunder

  5. 2:16 While that is “a” Penn Station, it’s not THAT Penn Station! Your photo is of the very much still standing NEWARK Penn Station in Newark, NJ which opened in 1935. Aside from an elevated bridge going right into its front, it is still a pretty Deco building in a city that, while still Newark, is sure as heck better than it was in the 80s! Downtown Newark has a state-of-the art arena called the Prudential Center, new local restaurants, and the New Jersey Performing Arts Center. Newark Penn is shared by the Newark Light Rail (aka the Newark City Subway because some stations are underground), NJT rail, Amtrak, PATH (subway between NJ and NYC), NJT buses, and Greyhound buses so it's very much a hub. The Moynihan Train Hall upgrade to NY Penn Station was definitely needed! I like the mix of the old and the new, not to mention it's within the James A. Farley post office building that was also designed by the McKim, Mead & White trio who worked on the original Penn Station that was once next door (they worked on the Brooklyn Museum and Columbia's main campus too). Sure it's different from the original Penn, but it's better than nothing! NYC is the "If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere" city, and it deserves an Amtrak hub that welcomes tourists with a grand "Yes, you CAN make it here!"

  6. Massive infrastructure projects like these are always more complex once actual construction starts. This isn’t just a problem in Hong Kong but worldwide, just look at the Crossrail/Elizabeth Line in London for example (also operated by MTR)! Unfortunately, however, people and the media in general always want to focus on negatives as it's "bad news" that sells! That man's courage to report safety problems saved hundreds if not thousands of lives in case a disaster had happened.

  8. I have my own Broadway-style theatre at my palace. I'm really hoping for a permanent Hamilton production here with my bud Dennis Rodman as the lead role. It'd be a smash hit for one-man audience like me. The rest of the country doesn't have musicals, but they don't need them when they have the talented Moranbong Band doing concerts

The main Pyongyang-Sunan airport may not have its own metro station like Denver does, but at least the metro system is more beautiful and cheaper. Because unlike them, we care about quality

Which is a big project of rebuilding the aging lines in our country to allow freight travel between the South and Russia.   11. Our Ryugyong Hotel in Pyongyang deserves to have fast elevators. This is cooler than ice. Makes me want to go to Finland just to visit the KONE underground visitor cave. Here's some Finland fun facts: Not only is Finland the sauna capital of the world (estimated over 3 million of them which is more than one sauna per household), but the word “Sauna” is also Finnish! It's the only Finnish word making it into everyday English language as well! Even their parliament has its own sauna, and Finns abroad also have the luxury of saunas inside their diplomatic buildings. More than 75 percent of their area is covered with forest! One of the most endangered seal populations in the world makes their residence in one of Finland’s lakes (Lake Saimaa). Only about 320 of the Saimaa Ringed Seals are estimated to remain. They're one of the few living freshwater seals left, alongside the Baikal and Ladoga seals.

  13. Thank you for saying it was invented in China, because a lot of Europeans love to defend that it isn't from there with a burning passion. People really underestimate Chinese contributions to society. We wouldn't have gunpowder, acupuncture, paper, a compass, tea, toothbrushes, money, and umbrellas if it wasn't for the Chinese.

With all this mega infrastructure being done all over Europe, the EU should somehow also think about unification of highway vignettes, train tickets etc, so for example you could buy yearly online EU pass (completely separated from vignettes and tickets for domestic use), which would be valid in the whole EU, and it would be available to all EU residents for not that big amount (let say 100 or 200 euros). With a market of 500 million people (so let say about 100 or 200 million of penitential sold ticket per year). I think there is room for this idea, where also capitalizing petrol and EV charging stations, maybe in one unified service could be possible etc.
