I wished Mantellas were talked about more often. When people think of poisonous frogs, you automatically think of the poison dart frogs of Central and South America. But there is another type of frog outside of Latin America that has bright colors to warn predators of its poison, and gets their poison from their food, and that's where the Mantella comes in. In fact, the poison dart frogs are so famous, when the Mantellas were discovered in 1866, they were automatically placed in the Dendrobates genus. Didn't take until 1882 for them to be given their own genus, and eventually their own family Mantellidae.
