  1. Just a small correction: The tunnel begins in North Bergen, not Weehawken. It first goes under North Bergen and Union City before Weehawken and finally the river. And an interesting fact: Neither the southern portion of the Hudson River nor the East River as a whole are rivers. The southern part of the Hudson River is a tidal estuary, which is where salt water from the ocean combines with fresh water from northern tributaries. While the East River is a tidal strait. Because of this East River fact, legally Long Island isn't recognized as an island according to the Supreme Court

  2. The NJ Turnpike being the most heavily traveled toll road in the US today isn't just all! Back in 1952, it was the most heavily traveled highway in the WORLD! But something to note, E-ZPass didn't begin in 2000. It was first installed on the NY State Thruway and Garden State Parkway beginning in 1993. Not to mention it was founded in 1987.

  3. Trains are certainly incredible. Taking a train through a country is how you truly discover its soul. My family has regularly used trains. I still have my own private train that was passed down from my grandpa and father (it was actually on this train that my father died from a heart attack). It's the train I've used to get to summits in Beijing, Hanoi, and Vladivostok. And my grandpa's longest journey was in 1984 (ten years before he passed) when he did a huge trip by train via China to the Soviet Union, Poland, GDR, Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Bulgaria, and Yugoslavia, and then back to the DPRK through the USSR again. Life is a train that stops at no stations; you either jump abroad or stand on the platform and watch as it passes.
