god bless him. my stepdad passed away early 2015- he was a general dynamics rocket engineer. he was fascinated by his computer and was online alot at age 86. OMG would he have loved curiosity stream... he loved German stuff (he was british?) and would be driving an infiniti if he were alive today. he would have loved that German guy at the test track! my real dad died in '97 right when he was starting to become computer literate. buy your dad a drink or do something nice for him cause I can't do that anymore. l lost my mom in February. So I have a house full of all their stuff (no clothes) and a dog and a cat. hope your dad keeps on truckin...

don't forget the iron pistons and the aluminum block (?!)
4
@Motor-City-Mike the success of that block was highly dependent on the effectiveness of the etching treatment given to the bores. goldilocks effect- not too little or too much.
3
good job getting the hell out of there
2
don't forget all the 'laughs-per-gallon' you got.....
2
you know there was a recall for those you could have gotten the mr goodwrench retrofix for free. my 73 had it done and I never had an issue with it.
2
@bigwoody4704 don't forget duke from pittsburgh
2
that was the front fenders
2
its about 30 minutes labor aiming the headlamps- what were the other 'unusual warranty costs'?? your comment lacks sensibility.
2
must have been before the pontiac 153 motor- that would have been cheaper and more reliable.
2
good reason for not planting oak trees in the driveway.
2
that was just another night of baseball at cleveland stadium.....
2
@popsfereal i'd rather have the 10 stroh's draft beers.
2
well didn't you chaps invent drinking and darts? same thing.
1
there was no need to 'stuff' anything in there- plenty of room. all REAL T/A's had super duties in them.
1
too young to remember the corvair??
1
76s had wheel house liners....and durabuilt motors. why would there be problems?
1
you should have sued GM for the name.....
1
i loved my vega. it was a piece of shit, but I got two new fenders all installed and painted under warranty. that was before i discovered datsun 510s.
1
at least the exhaust system was protected from rusting out!
1
plus you could sleep in there after you became homeless
1
you should have put DDT in the fuel....
1
that would have been a good night to stay the hell home
1
so who left 'the widowed bride'?
1
a 'junket' is actually a trip- a walk down memory lane- you could use a good dictionary.....
1
lee iococca was not an accountant- he was an industrial engineer with a master's degree in mechanical engineering- homework!!
1
don't forget the stadium hot dogs and was it stroh's on tap? YES.
1
bs on this one- the hoods never had rust issues
1
HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH YOU OR another previous owner.....
1
i used to raft that river before the gorge park acquired the river and dam/hydropower works. ohio edison owned it then and they never bothered us. we used the old penstock pipe as a return portage and we would shoot the water again and again. the most fun was when the river was the craziest- right after a good rainstorm. that was in '72/'73 after the hydro powerhouse was demolished but the pipe was still there. if anybody from the park tried to follow us, we would just stay in the river and float on down to cuyahoga st. bridge. fun times. sorry about off-topic rant...
1
sorry, but once any motor loses a rod big-end into the crankcase- it goes NOWHERE in a hurry. try again....
1
that could be done with ANY small RWD car. what kind of times you talking for a 'mid-engine blown big-block'?? there's a four-cylinder powered datsun 210 that runs 8.5's- yes, quarter-mile strip....
1
really??- drink 6 of them really fast and then try retyping your comment.... they had sunday licenses in ohio but none of the places would pay the fee. we used to go to lunch on sunday and get a six of busch for each of us and power them down. sure pissed a lot later at work but it got a decent buzz going. we used to smoke low-powered weed on sunday, too. cheers.
1
why put a V8 in it? chevy reworked its 140 motor and so should have your shop class. you guys would have learned a lot more than simply bolting a built-up V8 engine in. your teacher probably sold the V8 car for a profit that he promptly pocketed....
1
what an ignorant comment
1
@nationalcollateralservices3643 yeah, the joke was on us- the frenchies kept the R5 turbos for themselves!
1
"the engine produced way too much torque" sounds like GM suit-speak. no dealer would do the same job 11 times- they would rather buy it back. nice try....
1
but it almost cost them the cellar
1
@omelborpon3159 you know- they felt so back for the people of cleveland- they made art modell leave the team name and colors behind. when the chargers left san diego- the NFL told us "tough shit- get a socker, lacrosse, or rugby team".
1
those are some narrow hoodledges- and they tie the whole front suspension together- how did you do it?
1
maybe you should check for rust before you do a swap on a car- sheesh!
1
@jimstrict-998 low coolant levels can destroy ANY liquid-cooled engine.
1
@budlewis721 then the cylinder bores weren't properly etched- even aircraft engines have used bare aluminum alloy bores successfully. if the bores are of correct composition- cast-iron (not steel..) piston rings won't create a problem. blame the processors rather than the process itself.... GM would never spend extra for steel piston rings....
1
and then what?
1
dude he was on blow the whole time
1
ooooh- that one should have the DB 140- lucky you.
1
thank God you are responsible for NOTHING
1
harry jones: "mud- we really have to go now....." people ripping seats out of the floors and throwing them down on the field.... it was madness. i remember billy martin climbing the backstop trying to get to indians fans who were yelling at/throwing beers on him. it was the craziest damn thing i'd ever seen on TV.
1
and all those defunct auto factories are probably still standing in that God-forbidden place.....
