  13. i loved my vega. it was a piece of shit, but I got two new fenders all installed and painted under warranty. that was before i discovered datsun 510s.

  23. why put a V8 in it? chevy reworked its 140 motor and so should have your shop class. you guys would have learned a lot more than simply bolting a built-up V8 engine in. your teacher probably sold the V8 car for a profit that he promptly pocketed....

  30.  @budlewis721  then the cylinder bores weren't properly etched- even aircraft engines have used bare aluminum alloy bores successfully. if the bores are of correct composition- cast-iron (not steel..) piston rings won't create a problem. blame the processors rather than the process itself.... GM would never spend extra for steel piston rings....

  44. nonsense- foreign auto makers have been building aluminum-over-cast-iron blocks for years with no problems and any decent body shop could have lined the front wheelhouses for you- got any other bs??

  47. maybe it was because the spark plugs are supposed to screw into the cylinder head rather than the block. are you sure you did the work?? use 'anti-seize' next time because you are dealing with dissimilar metals.

GM received many accolades regarding their small-block diesel conversion. the reason it didn't become popular is because they tried to do it on the cheap- so GM. my dad had a 350 diesel chevelle wagon and it was awesome but we had to sell it due to my mom's allergies. the wagon was rebuilt by a truck shop and used a raecor filter/water separator- one of the things GM cheaped-out on.

  52.  @mikehunt9894  you HAVE to- the hoodledges are so narrow. just like a datsun or toyota and a big V swap. sometimes, parts swaps will get you around something- sometimes they won't.
