why would he want to take a pay cut like that??

i don't even need to tear one down to tell you the cause of the failures- people abuse them. period.
2
take it straight to your nearest nissan service drive. it may not be an 'overheat' situation. they can at least diagnose it for you for a nominal fee. you don't want to guess at something like that- its a safety issue.
2
@odarrien we do those at our nissan dealer- thats a pretty common symptom- even under warranty.
1
clean oil and proper viscosity counts for a lot- even in a conventional automatic. thats enough jatco-bashing for one night. one thing to remember- in 1970, datsun saved us with jatco automatics- saved us from borg-warner (letchworth UK).
1
theyre not. when people talk its wise to know who to listen to.... we get hondas and toyotas in here, too. they never replace the trannies in most front-line used cars and sometimes it costs them.
1
@sithyarael6807 subaru did that, too, with the justy.
1
@trentdaddydolla647 i don't even shop for aftermarket parts as i get nissan parts at cost. if i had a shop i would def check out aftermarket stuff.
1
no reason to be scared
1
who did you hear it from- an owner of a toyota or volvo i'm guessing??
1
you mean a filter and a screen.
1
@mistersunny3636 okay, hooper- put your hands behind your back. now answer just one question- why did you drive the car into the bay?
1
don't worry- as time goes on you'll get more and more comfortable with it. i wanted a maxipad but they don't get 32mpg and our gas is expensive.
1
@speedkar99 after they are abused...
1
servicing it is easy- not beating up on the thing seems to be the hard part.
1
@07wrxtr1 those cars are an embarassment to nissan
1
@fortnite360HZ nonsense- our service advisors recommend service at 60k. when one comes in on a flatbed its never a regular customer and the vast majority of the cars have never been serviced. if you just change the fluid every 60K you are ahead of the game.
1
@contumelious-8440 i agree with you. i have a sentra MR20/CVT and i love it. 65K i just did its first fluid change. its a little whiney going uphill, but they all do that.
1
@joeKisonue see what i said up above about two-feet driving, joe.
1
two-feeted driving in a CVT can keep your car in a higher gear ratio- it knows when you are off the gas and kicks the gears down to a shorter gearing. there are other tricks you can employ to 'fool' your cars CVT system. i'm going to do a vid on that subject.
1
that almost never happens- chances are they took it through nissan customer care. the cooling unit should have been pressure-tested and approved for re-use. i'll bet that didn't happen and the cooling unit problem took out both of your transmissions. too late to prove that now. if you had a problem at the service drive the advisor or manager should have directed you to nissan's customer care resolution line.
1
thats the key. i have an old 510 with a dogleg 5-speed and a BIG clutch. if i wanna beat on something-she's up for it. but it feels good to drive my sentra with the tunes and the A/C.
1
to which maintenance 'booklets' where you referring? or was it someone else that told you that? Nissan has NEVER not recommended servicing ANY of its transmissions.
1
ooh, yeah. those were sketchy. my dads 2006 had an automatic- he didn't like the CVT. he was a real rocket scientist with General Dynamics.
1
because it wasn't changed at the proper interval? if you beat on the thing that is a problem. sounds like your control unit may have a problem? was it replaced?
1
nissan has a severe-duty service schedule for their cars, in the case of my 2012 sentra- the CVT service interval is the same for severe duty. i recommend using the nissan fluid (mainly because i sell it).
