  9. Daihatsu (scions) is a great car. i had a 92 charade that went 333k all original. i put a rebuilt optima battery in her when i got her and now have that battery in my '12 sentra. the old blue-tops are awesome!

  15. i got my big bear scrambler when i was 16 but before i had a license. i used to sneak out on the road and smoke dudes in cars then go off-road and disappear into the woods. hitting second gear with my chin on the speedo trying to keep it on two wheels- fun stuff.

  24.  @alangil40  in the 510 sedans i've built for the stoplights, i've had a lot more problems with the twin-turbos than with any 5.0 mustangs. the numbers on the VG30DETT engine are false and actually are higher.

  28. pull that crap off of there and find a 71-72 fuel system for it. check the engine stroke by removing a spark plug and turning the motor by hand and measuring with a slim dowel how far the stroke is. if it has a stroker crank in there (L24=73.7mm L26/L28=79mm STROKER=83MM) you want to know what you have. the stroker crank is worth a GRIP. If you need parts or advice on setting the carbs for the 2.8 (check it with the dowel trick) the guys at Z therapy are knowledgeable on this matter. good old car that was cursed by its abortion of a fuel system.

  33. better late than never! i became a propeller airman at 30- most fun i ever had on the job. the best part was telling airframe & power plant techs they were forbidden by the FAA to mess with their props- job security!

  35. well a real underestimation of the japanese automotive engineers, especially after WE took all their existing tech and tooling after Surrender and very little credit to the retooling and restructuring of the JDM and basically all their steel making and heavy industries at the hands of the US. all state-of-the-art stuff that was well in place by the 50's- but they were using all-new machines and methods. prince also did their share of copying designs and systems from the european and domestic auto makers, as well. as a former SCCA fab tech, i agree the SRL/SPL311 cars were but holdovers from earlier years and the newer cars like the S30 and 510, 610, 710, 200SX, etc. seem lightyears ahead of the full-frame roadsters and sedans of the 50's and 60's. a good read- thanks for posting it.

  45. dunes are way more fun, but you want to use a small one with a motor swap for screwing around and playing games.

  46.  @fatpad00  also significantly slower- with a pair of drive wheels the conventional trike would smoke the single-rear wheel trike on sand or dirt- maybe even pavement, too. i wouldn't recommend using it on pavement- not what flotation tires are designed for....motorcycles have a lot more caster built in to the steerer tube.
