  1. the wear is indicative of repeated high-speed operation over rough roads. also, the rate of wear is accelerated by increasing unsprung weight (oversize wheels and tires). the vehicle MUST be inspected on a regular and sufficiently-frequent enough basis to catch this sort of stuff as it happens/progresses. there's nothing wrong with your rocky- a samurai or other similar vehicle could easily have done the same thing. daihatsu parts outside the JDM are always going to be a problem because toyota has chosen not to stock/sell daihatsu parts even though they could easily have done so right alongside their present line- the parts even use the same numbering system. apparently, they thought the 3,000 or so daihatsus in the US represented a market they absolutely HAD to have. unbelievable corporate greed! toyota bought daihatsu not because they wanted it, but because they DIDN'T want GM to acquire it. as a result, toyota remains competitive with general motors on a worldwide basis and continues to kick their asses in the JDM.
