in order to sue successfully you must be able to show and PROVE damages. what if the suit was unsuccessful? all those residents would be looking at their legal bills with no way to pay them. what attorney would take that on going forward?
3
who the hell is 'northfolk'??
3
not only a 'waste of space' but also an 'illegal alien' can get medi-cal/medicaid. definitely screwed-up and put into place by liberals.
2
you sound like someone with the EPA- why did you do that to our steel and tire industries??
2
it wasn't a 'horrific disaster'- have you considered a career in the fake news biz?
2
don't forget the national enquirer- they check the story- and then double-check it.
2
maybe medi-cal would pay for that. you could get snap benefits, too. maybe start looking for a vacant drainage pipe near the beach... also......
2
were feeling it here at the western world- maybe it has circum-navigated the earth.
2
the ford dealer is awesome there- byers?
2
it wasn't the 'corporations'- it was our all-mighty federal EPA.
2
you mean 'every day'- 'everyday' means common, mundane. youre welcome.
2
we have that- its called 'youtube'...
2
if that were to happen -they would just buy the whole town and turn it into a superfund site.
2
great- who else wants to pay to house and feed these guys?
2
i wouldn't save your jobs, either. have you ever seen or cared for anyone with pneumoconiosis? its a horrible way to die- they did you a favor.
2
NOT here- we don't have any railroad tracks here in my town. we just have the mexican border 10 miles away and earthquakes and wildfires. pure utopia.
2
well you just blew your cover (esp if thats you in the pic)
2
maybe a legal team would step up to a pro-bono (not sonny bono) agreement so they could lose without cost- prolly the only way it could end up in court. the railroad will NOT let that happen without settling it. either way, they would all become millionaires and everybody here would be talking shit about them.
2
what about all the two-headed frogs?
2
that place hasn't been 'clean' in a long, long time. maybe 100 years or more since they started making dinnerware there. coal/K-spar mining has also taken its toll on the local environment. columbiana county in general is a relatively filthy place when compared to other places in the region save for some towns along the rivers that still have some kind of steel industry- mostly in pa.
2
@LittleTurkey242 the ravenna arsenal was one of 'these companies' and now there are no decent jobs in that part of portage county as a result. and BTW- ravenna is WEST of east palestine. the EPA needs to back off with what theyve done to jobs in this part of the country. i was a junior tire builder at goodyear plant #1 when black monday 1977 hit. i would not describe ravenna as 'covered in railroad tracks'. ravenna is a great place with lots of great people. closing down the arsenal was a bad thing, but with the closure of the steel mills, tire shops, and auto-assembly plants there are no good jobs anymore.
2
you guys should have a corn-cookout- i'll buy
2
almost time to kick the renters out and sell the dump.
2
then they should have had it there two weeks ago- kill those birds with just one stone.
2
i see you people have plenty of fake news in scotland, as well.
1
sure- thats why the US taxpayers were forced to bail out the railroads during the mergers....
1
i'd blame it on the bob evans restaurant down the street
1
you could throw a party and feed all of them for 25 grand.
1
and youre willing to admit it!
1
address it to 'e. palestine' or it will go to east palestine and we don't want them to get it.
1
how would relieving the crew keep the derailment from happening?? the road would have to stop the train at a siding or yard and tag the car (possibly having to unload the car) for the shop. that means breaking apart the train- isolating the afflicted car and reassembling the train with a new crew. all they really had to do was slow the train until they could drop the car and make provisions to get it to the shop (which USED to be close by in greenville, pa. but is now much farther away) i would say time was more important than money in this case- but not so important after the fact.
1
you mean you'd rather see it on TV instead of discussing it here?
1
what makes you think they even HAVE a 'repertoire'?
1
@Gregory Scully its those darn cops- don't believe them
1
maybe it was a china-made wheel bearing that went bad.
1
you'll become one of the first suicide victims in incarceration.
1
you could start a gofundme page for him.
1
they didn't 'need to be out'- that is absolute nonsense. you feel the way you do because thats the way the mainstream media WANTS you to feel...
1
send em all to new castle, pa. where they make dynamite and fireworks. columbiana county aspires to be just like new castle
1
stop- you sound like a clueless news commentator
1
N&S is wholly owned by Norfolk & Southern Railway
1
agreed. they are a TEAM of IDIOTS
1
they get nothing until they demonstrate and prove their damages- just like any other lawsuit. only a court of law can decide what they deserve.
1
ALL cities with railroad tracks have such laws?
1
they have union guys (who don't pay into our social security) to do that for them.
1
sure- get a law degree and give them your time pro-bono- its that easy. if you flunk out of law school- you could always change your major and become a spinal surgeon- like one of my former roommates did.
1
i think the words you were looking for are 'conservative' and 'democrat'.
1
what happens if somebody gets too close? do they have guns and bombs?
1
have you ever even been there??
1
its going to go right past your playgrounds and down your street
1
business as usual. when they finally die it will be blamed on norform southern.
1
is that near piqua?
1
@LittleTurkey242 i have to add one thing- ravenna is UTOPIA compared to any place in columbiana county. i've spent time working door-to-door in both places with my dad's cable TV company.
1
then the place would become one huge meth lab. do you live there?
1
they would call the EPA, have them declare the town a superfund site with the stip that they are to be the GC of the whole thing, and then come out of it super-rich- and their kids will NEVER have to work for a living. great idea!
