@TapOnX When people fear land redistribution, they fear the government just up and taking land at the end of a gun. What happened in Japan was ruined land that people couldn't afford anyway being sold for a high price to the government and then sold to the poor for nearly nothing. The difference between doing that and within the US is astronomical. At no point did the New Deal era US ever support outright redistribution; that's something of a Marxist myth.

@carl4243 As always, the "MIC fucks everything" completely dumbs down conplex geopolitical US actions into a morality tale instead of the reality it is. The "forever war" didn't exist for many decades prior to 9/11, and the US public never had an appetite for public healthcare with their ludicrous wealth. And US Welfare is comparable to Western European ones generally. How about you actually bother to do some research before coming out to look like an ass, huh?

@kddiodox Uh, that's not how "exists because of X" works. The US exists because of British colonization, but even then that was for their own ends; not for the colonists. So any mention of "owing" doesn't apply in anything except maybe the allies that helped the US win independence...and even then, that was more for their own ends too lol
