@mebsrea Dude, I also think the Republican Party has lost its mind, but let's not act like any of them want a fucking DICTATORSHIP. That's the same as accusing them of treason, which is the exact kinda of language that Kremlin-bots use specifically to engender more distrust and hatred between Americans when the issue is more that both sides believe the other is unironically trying to hurt democracy. I say the same thing to Republicans that claim that Democrats stole the election and are trying to maintain the tools of election-stealing by preventing any semblance of voting checks which many other democracies take as a matter of fact compared to the US. So again, how much are you being paid by Ivan? Because while I have no doubt that there are like a good few hundred Republicans out there that want dictatorship unironically, to say its infecting the Party as a whole is a disgusting sentiment only worthy of foreign propaganda.

@Foria777 Uh, considering how Lenin's first act was to ignore the people's will and butcher any that got in his way; he was just as bad as the Russian Empire. Idk what that has to do with the French protests -the French President is using his Constitutional powers, however flawed they are, to make this change. It's France's democratic institutions that allow people to oppose that change. Nobody could stop Lenin when he butchered the people in contrast.

@Foria777 Who knows? The Russian Empire crushed dissent so any opinion from them was impossible to tell until a voting system was established -and Lenin ignored such a system when it went against him and repressed them.

@Foria777 Why does that need justification? A right to protest is a right to protest peacefully; riots are still a no go. That being said, there is plenty of leeway as to what is too far or what is just for democratic practices -the ultimate point is that democracies allow for that leeway without fear of political repression and being made to "disappear" like the Russian Empire or USSR had a habit of doing.

What a plainly unironically ignorant assertion lol. The ME was filled with various ideologies Post-colonialism, and aligned with the USSR mostly though some aligned with the US. Hell, Western interventionism almost has nothing to do with the "new leader doesn't follow Western interests" thing at all. Some people just live in an alternate reality, really.

Capitalism is jist the freedom to engage in the open market, but that can be abused by monopolies or government can be authoritarian with Capitalism anyway. Democracy functions best with it, and Marxists have a habit of decrying capitalist "authoritarianism"...but then when they get into power kill anyome that disagrees with them. Remember, people like you would kill people like me if I talked shit about your ideology if it was in power. Meanwhile you get to talk shit about capitalism while it is in power. You're framing it as ALL tyrannical when we SEE today that plenty of capitalist societies function PEACEFULLY with it to the benefit of society as a whole. The US also supported the mass murder of Fascists during WW2. And even originally plotted to coup Francoist Spain despite the deaths that would incur. As it turns out, the US is pragmatic and is fighting another superpower for ideological reasons. Once the Cold War ended the US left the Communists mostly alone without a superpower backing them. Yep, we are morally superior to you. Communists did the same exact thing and butchered any non-Communists where they could, and would continue doing so and in much higher numbers than the US had. The difference between the US and USSR, really, is their treatment of their people WITHIN their countries. And within their countries the US is INFINITELY morally superior to the USSR. You are still alive, you can still talk shit, and you can organize. If the USSR won and the US was infected with your ideology, I'd be shot, my family would be shot, and everyone I love would be killed. So yes, the fact that you are even ALIVE makes us morally superior to you. What, do you want us to retract that principle and just hunt you down as you would us? Is that what you want? @RazgrizWing US education also hides the fact that the US supported democratic transitions post-Cold War across the planet. Mostly because, despite what the insane think, it focuses far more on the blunt and obvious shit happening in the world since there is so much to cover. Sorry, but your pet peeve is not so critical to talk about in the context of world history.
