@benoliver5593 If the CIA was half as competent as its made out to be, I'm sure it would.

@luisphelipecarvalho5990 US founded a single dictatorship in Brazil at maximum. The US just took advantage of an already mucked situation; but its within the interests of the elite in LatAm to point to foreign powers rather than themselves as the issue -they also tend to ignore Soviet meddling for some reason. That's generally the case for all of LatAm barring the Carribean, which really did get mucked with by the US for about a century.

@Sniper_veil It was called a battle, but it was a tiny skirmish of like 100 guys. Wasn't like a US army was beat up; but yes the US was not looking forward to fighting a guerilla campaign.

@retrofuture1989 Muricans can't help but make a pity party about themselves when they're unironically one of the best nations on Earth challenge: Impossible

@chepushila1 If you're better than 99% of humanity, then you're very much up there. Just not the perfect example. That is also copium if you deny this.

@AngelloDelNorte Parts of LatAm are doing just fine, don't be racist.

@Matheus_Souza00 That was only in the late 20th century. Long before that this trend was a thing, both the US and USSR took advantage of that. As an aside, nobody cares that the USSR played that game too. Weird.

@navyseal1689 I said one of. Not the. Anyone claiming the US is the best is high on copium.

@공상가-t3c I don't even know what to say to that. Except that you prolly need your meds.

@vanillagorilla2747 CIA could only send money to people seeking revolt or revolution; nothing more than that. KGB ran circles around the CIA and literally spawned revolutions by training them and sending them to the offending countries. And whenever the CIA tried to infiltrate the USSR, they were almost always caught. Meanwhile the KGB stole secrets from the US all the time including the nuclear secrets which allowed for the USSR to quickly obtain the atom bomb. If nothing else, competent dictatorships are far better at that cloak and dagger stuff than competent democracies.

@eugenioderevell3826 Don't mind them. Not even a fraction of 1% of Americans have these braindead takes lmao. No borders gonna be moving around. Edit: And to be blunt, when people blame Spain sometimes they go too far, but they tend to be talking about the institutional horrors they left behind. Such systems like the Encomienda system, which while officially banned, still effectively functioned as the default of LatAm societies. These systems made it near impossible to move past without significant bloodshed. The US in the future would just take advantage of these systems.

@Zandaroos All I remember about Central America was that one Banana War and helping the Panamanians get independence for the Panama Canal. But that banana thing alone was terrible.

@jesusgonzalez-acton8045 Nobody cares what random generals think. Random US generals have braindead takes and have no idea wtf is going on beyond the battlefield. The Mexican-American War was very complicated, but the US was hardly entirely in the wrong when Mexico had the harebrained idea of bringing US settlers to use as meat shields against the Comanche.
1
Too complicated since the Mexicans invited them to the land in the first place before backstabbing them, creating an alliance of American settlers and Nortenos against Mexico.
